Adam Smith, the man who videotaped himself getting free water at a Chick-Fil-A drive-thru just to berate the young woman as been fired.
Smith in his video said he was happy to feel "purposeful" in condemning the Chick-Fil-A employee over CEO Dan Cathy's same-sex-marriage remarks. The video went viral and citizen journalists tracked him down online and grabbed copies of his resume. His employer, Vante, released this statement a bit ago:

Employee Has Left the Company TUCSON, AZ--(Marketwire - Aug 2, 2012) - The following is a statement from Vante: Vante regrets the unfortunate events that transpired yesterday in Tucson between our former CFO/Treasurer Adam Smith and an employee at Chick-fil-A. Effective immediately, Mr. Smith is no longer an employee of our company.
The actions of Mr. Smith do not reflect our corporate values in any manner. Vante is an equal opportunity company with a diverse workforce, which holds diverse opinions. We respect the right of our employees and all Americans to hold and express their personal opinions, however, we also expect our company officers to behave in a manner commensurate with their position and in a respectful fashion that conveys these values of civility with others.

I didn’t know he owned it; I believe his family owns it, since his father started it.
My point was that just like Smith’s company was free to fire him for his conduct of expressing his free speech, so would the officers/directors be free to do the same with Cathey IF the case had been they disagreed with his expression of his free speech. (which obviously they did NOT disagree, nor do you, nor do I)

I have to say, the lady stayed classy.
1... You know this wasn’t the first time this happened that day. Probably not the last either.
2... It would have been easy to get angry and start shouting, she didn’t. Good training and/or common sense.
3... For every one of these videos, there were probably 20 other unrecorded hatemongers, less inclined to perform, but still inclined to spew.

I saw a highly qualified executive get fired about one month after he was hired. He was rude with one of the customers, then bragged about it. He was gone as soon as the paper work could get finished.
When people start bragging about how rude then can be, as Mr. Adams did by posting his video, you know it’s only a matter of time when he’s going to do it to you or one of your customers. Firing him was just a wise decision.
Maybe there’s a gay bathhouse in need of a CFO with a sharp tongue?

I have found I was mistaken. I saw reports using their Middle Name which is in common with both and the Father uses as his preferred name.
It was Dan Truett Cathy, S. Truett Cathy’s son, who made the original comments on traditional marriage.

I have to admit I am glad he got fired but NO ONE (with few exceptions) should be fired for his political or religious beliefs. This IS America after all.
