This is going to shock the hell out of some IRS auditors I know.
This is funny, except when you consider that the point Reid is trying to make is (I think) that you can avoid paying taxes if you stop making money.
Meaning that if you quit your job and become dependent on government subsidies and entitlements you can stop paying taxes. Which is true, I guess, but not exactly in keeping with the principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness that this country was founded upon.

Well, there’s also barter. A friend of mine and I do it all the time. Saves us both in taxes.
But if you don’t “volunteer” you are charged with willful failure to file.
