Mark Levin was livid when he read that House Republicans had voted to eliminate the Senate confirmation process for the reported number of 169 presidential appointments. And the explanation he got from a couple of sources was that Romney had told Republicans to vote for it, so they did. Levin wonders if we are already going back to the days of George W. Bush when House and Senate members voted a certain way to support the president instead of the Constitution.
First heres the background:
WASHINGTON POST The House Tuesday evening passed a measure to improve the clogged presidential appointee confirmation process by eliminating 169 jobs from requiring Senate approval.
The positions in that category, such as assistant secretaries for public affairs or for administration or management, are ones that rarely spark partisan Senate battles.
The Senate has already changed its rules to place another 270 or so nominees in a streamlined category where, if no senator objects, the nominee would bypass laborious committee hearings and go directly to the Senate floor for a vote.

I like that and it can be made into a great bumper sticker for each Rhino!
I will just keep saying this right til election day. If Romney is elected, Conservatism DIES. It will end.
Boehner should be tarred and feathered.
If a position doesn’t require Senate confirmation, it should be eliminated. It’s obviously unimportant and therefore probably unnecessary.
I’m going to organize a stink about this. They can’t afford to do what Romney tells them to do. They have to do what is right by their voters. Romney is an idiot and he’ll bring them all down with him.
And just who confirmed all of Obama’s czars? He has sidestepped the confirmation process already!!!
When Bush was president the Democrats used the confirmation process to block many good appointments. The press played it as objective Democrats and party-line Republicans. We can’t win.
My understanding is that this process is not for the Constitutional nominees to courts, etc.. That would require a constitutional amendment.
If this process is in effect when Romney is president, it will allow less obstruction by the Democrats. Now, how is that a bad thing?
...and I assume they got nothing in return.
This does not surprise me one bit. All these ABOs telling us how they are going to keep Romney on the straight and narrow if he’s elected. Well, he hasn’t even been elected yet and he’s already controlling these republicans in order to make it easier on the democrats. Conservatives get the shaft and the knives in the back. Socialist democrats get the outstretched hand and the reach across the aisle.
Thanks, Mitt./s
Congress helped dig the ditch. They need to spend more time acting as a check and balance on executive branch power and less time spending money we don't have.
I bet you are right. If Romney wins in November.......it really isn’t a “win”. It’s just a stop gap measure to prevent the accelerated bleeding of our nation and even then it may not be enough. We’ll have to double down and continue to fight against RINOism.
See the tag line.
Seriously. Some things simply shouldn't be borne on a conservative site.
Given Romney’s — ahhh — “fluid” ideology (the old WetFingerInTheWind Technique) this guy should be fairly easy for sufficient public pressure to steer back onto the reservation when — not IF — but when he strays.
That option doesn’t work with the firmly radical and America hating ideological Marxist now infesting the WH.
So, from that perspective, we have gained some ground — and some time — to continue educating our ignorant neighbors for future cycles. If we halt or fail in that ongoing process, worse than Obozo awaits us down the road.
Just another reason why I can't vote for Romney.
I disagree, but it's Jim's call.

Start a daily "Prayers for Nancy Pelosi" or "Prayers for Rachel Maddow" thread, and I'll take the point seriously. ;)
