“Texans need to get rid of Medina and elect Devine to the Texas SC. Essentially the same crowd that backs Dewhurst is backing Medina.”

That is not much of an endorsement for Devine. I favor Cruz, but I’m sure the “crown that backs Dewhurst” includes some good folks.

Got any other reasons I should vote for Devine?

I live in Houston and am very familiar with Medina, who is sleazier than Dewhurst. If you search you will find that a few years ago Medina’s home burnt down. The story is that Medina was having an affair, and his wife discover it and set the house on fire. Medina tried to help cover up the arson, but the matter went to a grand jury. The grand jury voted to indict, but the GOPe got the indictment set aside. The entire thing was swept under the rug. Here is the Chronicle story:

Medina was appointed by Perry for no reason other than than affirmative action. He has remained immune from criticism because he is a GOPe token “hispanic”. He is support by Perry and the other GOPe officeholders.

I know Devine, and I can say he is a far better lawyer than Medina; he is far more honest than Medina; he is incontrovertibly pro-life; and he is much more of a principled conservative than Medina.

There are no perfect candidates, but Devine would be a significant improvement over Medina.

If you live in Harris County, you might also take a look at Carl Pittman for Sheriff. Pittman was endorsed by Joe Arpaio. Guthrie seems to be another creature of the Harris County R establishment.

Like Governor Dewhurst, they are not bad people, but they are not what we need right now in Washington, or Austin for that matter. They are ‘Compassionate Conservatives’ with soft hearts and we need people up there who will be willing to vote for possibly harsh austerity measures.
