This morning the Department of Defense announced the death of another U.S. soldier who was killed in Afghanistan when his unit was attacked by small arms fire from enemy forces.

Newlywed, Pfc. Theodore M. Glende, 23, of Rochester, N.Y., was killed Friday night, July 27, 2012, in Kharwar in Logar province.

PFC. Glende was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Vicenza, Italy.

The 173rd Airborne brigade marks its fourth loss in a week’s time with Pfc. Glende’s death. Logar province has become an extremely volatile region of Afghanistan.

This week’s U.S. Army losses include Spc. Justin L. Horsley, 21, of Palm Bay, Fla., and Pfc. Brenden N. Salazar, 20, of Chuluota, Fla., both of the 1-503rd. They died in Pul-E Alam the capital of Logar province.

Pfc. Adam C. Ross, 19, of Lyman, S.C., of the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, was killed by small arms fire in an attack two days later in Wardak province.
