Abuse of Power Has No Limits
The Aspen Times ^ | July 26, 2012 | Charlie Leonard

A liberal friend of mine with whom I regularly duel over political issues sent me a note last month cheering the Supreme Court decision that said Congress can compel every one of us to buy a private product (in this case, health insurance) or face a federal fine.

Last week, he sent me another message, this time expressing his outrage with a news report that said New York City police officers stop more than 1,800 people per day and put them through a full pat-down search.

According to the story he sent me, more than nine in 10 of the people frisked by the police were innocent of any crime or offense, and a disproportionate number of the individuals were black or Hispanic.

Clearly, my liberal friend had no objection to granting the government extraordinary power

Think of it as a government benefit — taxpayer-subsidized full-body massages.

Abraham Lincoln didn't free no slaves.

Now pay me what I demand and I'll decide what to give you for it, or I'll imprison you!

The Truth Fairy Strikes again.

calling for Congress and the states to pass laws that would deny homosexual couples the same rights and privileges as heterosexuals

Homosexuals have exactly the same rights as heterosexuals have.
Each group is free under the law to marry a member of the opposite sex and each group is not free to marry a member of the same sex.
Homosexuals want a special right.

Welcome to the world of “gubmint employees - bureaucrats” running your medical care in all its facets. - Husband just found an error (thousands of dollars) in a Medicare charge from a doctor who had another patient by the same name. - Called Medicare, got “we don’t know, YOU fix it!” - Called his private insurance company, employee said, “hang on, I’ll call the doctor’s office right now”, resolved in just a few minutes. Quite a contrast.

Replace the last word free with able. The inability of two or more people of the same sex to form a relationship known as marriage is not for lack of freedom but for lack of capability.

The difference is huge and must not be understated. We no more said that you can’t than we could say that you can.

The difference is cutural, nobody cares about the money of 300 million people most of which live a thousand miles away. People do care about their own money and the money of individuals.

This is one of the reasons the whole system of insurance as 3rd party risk assumptive is bound to do nothing but drive up the cost of whatever they are managing it. The Federal government just takes that fundemtnaly flawed Idea and puts it on steroids.

The result is either oppressive rules in what you can & can’t do with your own money or absoulty no price control thus progressively prohibiting more and more service.

Where does all the money go? Wast in unjustifiably expensive procedures, tests, and other technologies that while in principle improve the service their improvement cannot in any normal economy justify their price.

But when price is no object as is the case in the 3rd party responsibly assumption in health insurance, any improvement is justified (and by way of litigation demanded) no matter the cost.
