Obamacare falling short already
Orange County Register ^ | 7-26-2012 | The Orange County Register Editorial Board

The unintended, convoluted and costly consequences of President Barack Obama's signature health care law are about to be realized. Obamacare was rushed through Congress in 2010 despite almost no one knowing what the 2,700-page law provided, apart from a vague promise to make health care more affordable and accessible.

This week...

Once a company announces it will drop it’s insurance package because of the way the law is written....the employees will be mostly in shock. They will go home and the initial feeling will be to quit and go elsewhere....but in a stagnant economy....that won’t happen. So you try to figure out the state-by-state insurance bucket scheme, realizing that it’s still fifty percent more expensive than anything the company offered. If you are a Democrat....eventually, you will come around and ask yourself and the wife....what this 2700 page law deal was all about?

In the decades to come....this will be a history lesson of sorts. Historians will be asked why people had better health care options prior to 2014, and they really won’t be able to answer it....without talking about the consequences of the law.

The Democrats were in such a rush to push this through, that they themselves didn’t know what was in it. Nancy Pelosi said that they had to pass the bill to find out what was in it. The utter insanity of the Democratic Party was never laid so bare.

If the Republicans don’t repeal Obamacare, we will be speeding to the edge of the cliff even faster than we would have otherwise. We have many problems which need to be fixed. Obamacare is only one of them, but if we don’t repeal it very soon, it will be almost impossible to ever repeal it.

Hell is about to be unleashed. Fear and chaos will rule because of the incompetence of our government (all three branches).

The reason we have had the best health care system in the world is due to the flexibility (market wise) of health insurance companies, the providing of that coverage by employers of all sizes, and the automatic deduction of the premiums to pay for coverage.

If the 10% of companies no longer provide health insurance coverage, you will see chaos. There are not enough insurance salesmen in the world who can sell an affordable policy to the average American worker if he has to pay for it himself.

In the past I spent time selling individual major medical policies to small businesses and families. I found that health insurance premiums are way down the list of priorities if the people have to choose how to spend their money. They would rather spend money on pizza and beer than on health insurance because they think “it can’t happen to me.” Well, it can and does happen to all of us at one time or another...hence, really good insurance companies providing really good coverage automatically paid is what our system is all about.

It is the best system in the world, and Obamacare will destroy it. But don’t worry. Everyone will be on medicaid, our new single payor system.

The company I work for had their annual add drop day for health insurance yesterday. Big change for all workers.
We have been lucky in that our company has absorbed all increases in insurance costs over the last 3 years. No more.
Now we have 5k deductible, with zero copay.
Zero copay means you pay for the doctors visit, and if you have put money in a Health Savings Account, you get paid back for the covered expenses.
No more running to the doctor for any issue and paying the $5, $25, or $50 dollar copay. You pay upfront for all costs, until the 5K deductible is met.
It is insurance for major health issues. Not allergies, or flu, or sniffles.
I stated in the meeting to all the people who were complaining about the increased costs: “If you think health insurance is expensive now, just wait until it is free!”
Obama care has came home to ROOST!

If you like your single payer health coverage and the death panels deciding what coverage you should have, you can keep it. If you prefer something else... tough!
