Not according to the article. The article said a prof, not necessarily Holmes's shrink, initiated a call to police when he received a suspicious package. That package turned out to be nothing, but then the police searched the mail room and found another package with Holmes's return address.
This story calls to mind Dr. Maurice Dean Heatley's long ago interaction with a young patient, Charles Whitman:
On March 29, 1966, Whitman had spent an hour with psychiatrist Dr. Maurice Dean Heatley at the University [of Texas] Health Center. During this meeting Dr. Heatley noted Charles "oozing hostility," and recalled Whitman's reference to "thinking about going up on the tower with a deer rifle and start shooting people." Charles was told to "make an appointment for the same day next week." He never did.
On August 1, 1966, Whitman shot and killed 14 people from the UT campus tower and wounded 32. After the tower murders, it was discovered he had also stabbed his mother and his wife to death.
I wonder if Dr. Heatley is still coming down for breakfast. If so, it would be interesting to hear his take on Holmes.

Back then, a lot of people carried their rifles in their trucks without a hassle from the leftist gestapo.
