Investigators track Colo. shooting suspect's ammo shipments

(CBS News) Sources say investigators have found key evidence in dumpsters and trash bins outside of James Holmes' apartment, including a shipping label from an internet ammunition store called BulkAmmo.com.

Investigators also tell CBS News they have recovered a surveillance video of James Holmes picking up approximately 150 pounds of ammunition at a Federal Express outlet in Colorado.

They've interviewed a UPS driver who says Holmes had 90 packages delivered to his workplace on the University of Colorado medical campus.

And sources say over the past several months, Holmes spent about $15,000 as he was putting together his deadly arsenal -- guns, chemicals, explosives, and ammunition.

"Through the Internet he purchased over 6,000 rounds of ammunition, more than 3,000 rounds of. 223 ammunition for the assault rifle, 3,000 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition for the two Glocks in his possession and 300 rounds for the 12 gauge shotgun."

Holmes did most his shopping on Internet sites. And he was clearly in a hurry.

A receipt from TacticalGear.com shows on July 2 -- two-and-a-half weeks before the shootings -- Holmes purchased a bulletproof vest and other equipment. He paid extra to have it shipped by 2nd-day air.

I wonder how many knee jerk dems will be running to the floor with bills outlawing Internet ammo sales next week?

“Holmes spent about $15,000”

Which begs the question- who was bankrolling this guy?

EXACTLY! One of the earlier stories CLAIMED he was “unemployed”...I am not into tin foil hats, but I seriously doubt this fella did this on his own...he got that money somewhere...and Im guessing NOT from his daddy.

He may have put his purchases on his credit card, figuring that when the bill came due he would be dead.

These "investigators" must be REALLY smart!

I don't think those people who were killed and wounded really care where the hell the "prepetual student" with the Ronald McDonald hair got the bullets. Only politicians and gun grabbers give a crap about that.

Let’s investigate how many payments Buckwheat and the rats got from Saudis who support terrorists.

Now that would be interesting.

He spent $15,000 on ammunition? Only God, and now the police, know how much was spent on other gear including weapons.

“Was someone bankrolling him?” is an excellent question.

No telling what they’re going to find on his computers they’ve no doubt seized from his apartment and workplace. Everyone who has ever been in email contact with him will be analized. If he was involved with the Black Block anarchists or the Obama Marxist WSO scumbags, et al, it’ll be tracked down. Watch the rats scurry for cover.

Oops. Unless, that is, it comes under Holder’s protective thumb.

Possibly a dozen or so credit card companys. It’s not like he was gonna be worried about paying them off.

Credit cards aren’t that hard to get. He could have maxed out several in the process of building his arsenal. If that’s the case, I guess he won’t be paying them off anytime soon.
