NJ Sen. Lautenberg Planning to Reintroduce Gun Control Legislation In Wake Of Colorado Shooting by Josh Feldman | 10:21 pm, July 20th, 2012 » 169 comments

Despite all of the calls not to politicize the Colorado shootings last night, gun control advocates have been demanding that politicians use it as an opportunity to take action on national gun laws. The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence said earlier that they “don’t want sympathy” from President Obama and Mitt Romney, they “want action.” It is with all of this in mind that New Jersey senator Frank Lautenberg is planning on reintroducing gun control legislation on the Senate floor to limit high-capacity magazines.

According to The Huffington Post, Lautenberg brought similar legislation to the floor following last year’s shooting in Arizona involving former congresswoman Gabby Giffords. At the time, Lautenberg said that “the only reason to have 33 bullets loaded in a handgun is to kill a lot of people very quickly” and pledged that he would introduce legislation to ban high-capacity ammunition clips.

Lautenburg’s office sent this statement to the Post earlier today:

Gotta give the libs credit. They never fail to let a crisis be an opportunity for them to try to expand the government even more.

It’s time for Americans to unite to get this commie pig thrown out of OUR Senate. I hate commie bass turds who will exploit a tragedy like this for their on political gain. Lautenberg needs his commie ass thrown in prison.

The Republican "take-over" of Congress in 1994 was a direct result of the AWB.

They are playing right into our hands!

We don’t need gun control. We need Swift Justice.

Murderers know that it will be at least a decade before they face the chair. Trials take forever to begin. The Hasan Fort Hood trial just started. It’s crazy.

There has to be immediate trial and conviction for the likes of “alleged” killers like Holmes and Hasan. There is nothing “alleged” about being caught red-handed with guns in their hands still blazing.

The death penalty has no deterrence when justice plays out so slowly. No excuses for drug-induced mayhem. I don’t have any tolerance for drunk drivers who kill either.

Gun control won’t solve anything. Overhauling the court system will.

Lautenberg undoubtedly has relations with some of the people on the Cinemark Board of Directors ~ either directly, or indirectly through friends, associates and probably relatives on boards where those members serve.

Shouldn't take too long for a specialist in these matters to track down his traces ~

Obviously Cinemark has a part to play in the lawsuits coming up ~ so why not Lautenberg. He may already know if he's at risk of losing some of his money in this one.

Hopefully we will get rid of Obama in November otherwise it does not matter if take over Congress.

Sad but true.

Without realizing it I actually made a statement that's normally stated by an anti-Chavista in a Venezuelan election year. Look how far we've gone in less than 4 years.

It’s called “dancing in the blood”. Liberals, with no basis in fact, use this tactic all the time.

I did too.

I guess if Fast and Furious didn't accomplish Sarah Brady's goals, they will try, try again.
