This week, Councilman Bryan Caletka said Davie may be on the verge of approving an unconstitutional ban that won't hold up in court.

"These are dangerous things," Luis said. "They're being sold in our town. I don't really care about the constitutionality. I'm more worried about the kids."

Luis said they needed to do something to protect people from using a chemical concoction that might send them to the hospital.

This is related to the whole "causeway cannibal" thing and the yet to be proved link to "bath salts". It is also a lesson on the importance of choosing our local leaders carefully, vetting them well, and squashing the "bugs" at a local level...otherwise they elevate themselves to higher office and we end up with debby blabbermouth or even worse...her boss.

That would be a very, very, very long list.

Geeze, you wouldn't have anything left in you house if these dictators had their way.

Eff em all.

954-797-1000 to contact the city of Davie about the commie Bryan Caletka.

Yes I know. Doesn’t that statement just give you the warm and fuzzies? I will call the city if nothing else just to annoy Mr Caletka. But in the meantime I plan to find out if the oath prior taking his office required any mention of the Constitution (US or FL).

I don't really care about the constitutionality.

There's an awful lot of that going around.

The kid was friends with the son of one of my best buds. He was a GOOD kid....made a stupid mistake.

I emailed my daughter about it. My grandkids are 17 and 14....such a dangerous age.

I’m surprised Davie has decided to stop focusing on speed traps and 1/2 second yellow lights to ponder such an important thing.

Unfortunate choice of words, but the councilman is right about banning this stuff. Our affluent southern town just lost a very promising local 16-year-old who bought some at the gas station, figured it must be safe because it was legal, and then died that evening.

In another case, perhaps more telling of its effects, a 19-year-old in suburban Detroit killed his dad and attempted to kill his mother and siblings after first stealing money from the family to fuel his K2 habit:

I hear what you are saying. The problem is that a city in FL cannot ban possession. They can ban sales...but that is different. There is also a much different problem in that no matter what the state or feds ban, there are chemists working for these horrible companies who tweak formulas to stay barely within the law. I do not know the answer. But I do know that politicians who openly say that they could care less about the constitution, need to go.
