Romney: Colorado shooting is 'unspeakable tragedy' (with video)

BOW, N.H.—Hours after a shooter killed a dozen people in a Colorado cinema, Mitt Romney scrubbed a scheduled campaign rally Friday and instead offered his somber condolences and prayers to the victims and their families.

“Our hearts break with the sadness of this unspeakable tragedy. Ann and I join the president and first lady and all Americans in offering our deepest condolences to those whose lives were shattered in a few moments, a few moments of evil in Colorado,” Romney told a few hundred people gathered at a lumber yard here.

“I stand before you today not as a man running for office but as a father and grandfather, a husband, an American. This is a time for each of us to look into our hearts and remember how much we love one another and how much we love and how much we care for our great country. There’s so much love and goodness in the heart of America.”

Not a tragedy, Romney. An atrocity.

But at least you didn't try and make it about you and insultingly emote about your daughters being there.

Someone should mention the theater’s limo-liberal corporation disarmed all the law abiding victims who were terrorized by the guy who disobeyed that murderous rule. This would not be gun banning Mittens.

Political correctness is deadly for the lies it tells and the action it takes upon those lies. Someone in that theater needs to sue! If they were going to disarm the customers, they should have provided armed guards to protect them. Sue! Sue! Sue!

I understand your point, but a soldier dying in a war zone is different than a 1 y/o getting murdered at point blank range at the movies.

I’ll accept tragedy in the classic sense: uninvited bad that happens to people not seeking it. IOW, tragic to those who had been injured by it.

It is, of course, better described by “atrocity” as you have pointed out.

Romney’s reaction is the highest morality when compared with despicable ABC News who politicized it immediately and blamed the Tea Party.

An "atrocity" is right. The tragedy is that getting a concealed carry permit is apparently so difficult in that part of Colorado that no one there was able to stop this nut. Twelve people dead and 71 -- seventy one!!! -- injured? I personally know several CC holders who very likely would have been able to take that loon down before he'd done a fraction of the damage. Yes, this calls for a change in gun laws alright -- a change that makes it more possible for honest, responsible citizens to conceal-carry to handle such nutcases as this guy was.

As for, How many Soldiers have we lost this week???? crickets.

How many in Mitt's family have been Soldiers or served in the U.S. military over the three generations they've been in the U.S.?????? crickets.

Yet another thing Romney has in common with Obama.

Dang, you nailed it! They should have responded with this:

But being limo-liberal globalists, they would rather join the p.c. self defense banners in sympathy for the only man in the movie house who was illegally armed!

I totally understand that, and have great sympathy for the famlies, I was referring to all the political remarks. Maybe they should both suspend campaigns. sarc tag not needed.

While Zero found a way, yet again, to make this about HIM.

“If Malia and Sasha had been in that theatre.....”

Blah, blah, blah....

Obama should have done better than turning it around and making it about him and his daughters. A consistent, self absorbed SOB, I'd say.

Not everything is about politics, or at least it shouldn’t be.

If America can’t join together after an event like this then what is really the purpose?

Someone ought to remind Obama that recently Malia was in Mexico, where she could have been shot with one of the guns from Fast and Furious.
