Santorum Debuts as Romney Surrogate in Pa.

Former Sen. Rick Santorum was back on the stump in his home territory of western Pennsylvania over the weekend, but this time in a new role: Mitt Romney's attack dog.

"The republic is at stake," Santorum told a crowd gathered in the hot and cramped Victory Center, many of them wiping their brows. "One man is who we have to put our trust in to go out and fight that battle, and win that battle. And we must rally behind and do everything we possibly can to support Gov. Mitt Romney so he's the next president of the United States."

"This is my home stomping territory around here, and we're going to be spending some time out here doing things to help candidates and certainly [doing] whatever we can to help Governor Romney." Last week, Santorum appeared at a Romney campaign office opening in Davenport, Iowa.

I guess Santorum will get his good buddy Specter to join him stumping for Mitt.

You are dead wrong. Romney is a self-avowed Progressive. He is a socialist.

There will be no substantive changes to prevent this nation’s on rushing economic crash into the abyss, because Romney is a statist left-winger every bit as much as Obama.

So, unless you can provide something more substantive that the crap you just offered, “...it will bounce right back once we get rid of the marxist ineptocracy Obama has created...”, you basically have nothing to offer.

I will make this very clear to you: this nation is heading for a major economic crash because our government spends more than it takes in tax revenue. There exists massive redundacy between Federal programs (unconstitutional programs) and State programs (constitutional). The solution is obvious but very unpopular.

Can Romney deliver smaller, more efficient government? Do you even know if his team intends to go in that direction?

His record in Massachusetts indicates that he will not do so.

What say you?

I say that either Obama or Romney are going to be President, you think 4 more years of Obama is alright, then vote for him.

Santo messed up with me with his disingenuous rewriting of Newt's tenure as Speaker. Then went on to brag about being part of the cabal who drove him out. Hell, at least Lindsey “Light Shoes” Graham admitted it was a mistake. Scary to think Graham may be more of a man than Santorum...

I wouldn’t care if he brought SATAN himself to help him stump for Romney. If it gets rid of Obama then go for it.

What is wrong with asking specifics of Romney, what he intends to do?

How does that translate into voting for Obama??

Too little Too late. We need to get somebody else as nominee. Virgil Goode is my only answer now as to whom to vote for in November. write him in if he isn’t on the ballot.

Guys, please! The Gingrich-Santorum battle is over. We're stuck with Romney now as the Republican nominee, which means our choices are Obama, Romney, or one of several different third-party candidates who have virtually no chance. We can keep blaming each side but it's not going to help anyone now.

Let's just hope we can do a better job in 2016 of coming up with a conservative candidate.

Cripplecreek, just to clarify, you won't hear me objecting on how bad of a Republican nominee Mitt Romney is. I'm not going to defend Romney (especially on Free Republic), and I'm still not sure what I'm going to do this fall.

My concern is with a few Gingrich people who seem to think Santorum’s campaign gave us Mitt Romney as the Republican nominee. The same argument could be made against Gingrich. Both have endorsed Romney, and shouldn't be a surprise to anyone — Romney also would have endorsed the eventual nominee if he'd lost.

To my knowledge the only Republican candidates who haven't endorsed Mitt Romney are Ron Paul, who is still trying to have his delegates cause trouble at the convention (which is his right, though I can't see what he hopes to accomplish) and Gary Johnson, the former New Mexico governor who is now running as a Libertarian.

I'm not a Libertarian with either a capital “L” or a small “l,” and I'm not voting for Ron Paul or Gary Johnson.

If Romney swore he was going to cut the Gov't in half, you wouldn't believe him!

We know what he did in Mass., but the fact is it is either him or Obama-make your pick.

Frankly, that doesn't even make sense.

It is either Obama or Romney, clearly you are for Obama.

It will be Obama ... or the conservative candidate.
Backstabber Mr. RomneyCARE took out the conservatives.

So, Mr. RomneyCARE is the chosen loser.
It will be Obama.

Got that?

Mr. RomneyCARE, of Wall St., and of gay marriage,
and of RomneyCARE/ObamaCARE, and of no transparency,
and endless pussiness, IS THE CHOSEN LOSER.

And has Mr. RomneyCARE not fit the role while on vacation?

I wonder what Paul’s delegates will do, actually? (Both the known and the unknown delegates.)

Here is a link to an article where Sarah Palin says she
agrees with Ron paul on his budget cuts etc...
(she doesn’t agree with the military part)
maybe she can pull something off behind the scenes....
I know it’s a longshot but that would be so sweet to vote for Sarah Palin come November......

Thank you very much for the link.

I believe Ron Paul rocks on getting the USA to fiscally sound policy, and he possesses a grown up, deadly serious interpretation of the plain English of our Constitution. And, you know what else, I am sick of the use of our young being used for target practice around the world by butchers, to prove some poor pol’s bluster and macho! This goes for girl pole too, who can’t wait to prove their not.

I want a mighty armed forces and state of the art defense program and a tight friendship with Israel.

Between Palin & Paul checking each other, this fantasy could make sense. I am pretty desperate today, huh? :)
