Romney’s Palin Problem: Where’s Her Convention Invite? (Advisor: she will be prohibited to speak)
Newsweek ^ | Sunday July 15, 2012 | Peter Boyle

Posted on 07/15/2012 6:34:16 PM PDT by Bigtigermike

[T]he Romney campaign has not asked Palin to speak at the convention nor contacted her about even attending the party’s marquee event in Tampa. Queries to the Romney camp about any possible Palin role at the convention meet with a stony silence. Palin does not seem surprised. “What can I say?” she responded in an email from Alaska, when asked by Newsweek about the convention, just before heading to Michigan to deliver an Obama-thumping speech. “I’m sure I’m not the only one accepting consequences for calling out both sides of the aisle for spending too much money, putting us on the road to bankruptcy, and engaging in crony capitalism.”

Romney was the choice of the party’s elites, whom Palin has regarded with open disdain ever since her rough treatment during the 2008 campaign. They are some of the same people who anonymously disparaged Palin as a clueless bumpkin, and some of them are now helping to run Romney’s campaign. When unnamed Romney aides tell reporters that Romney will likely go with a “safe” choice for vice president because of the 2008 “disaster,” Palin notices.

[....]

The Romney camp will not comment on Palin, or on plans for the convention, but one adviser associated with the campaign suggested that Palin would be prohibited from speaking at the Republican convention by her contract with Fox News. “It’s true I’m prohibited from doing some things,” Palin says, “but this is the first I’ve heard anyone suggest that as an excuse, er, reason to stay away from engaging in the presidential race. I’m quite confident Fox’s top brass would never strip anyone of their First Amendment rights in this regard.” (Fox says her contract would not prohibit speaking at the convention if she sought permission.)

All I can say to this is,If Sarah Palin was A Disaster that tells Me That Romney Buys the Media Propaganda and that does Not Bode well for HIS campaign. Sarah Palin was the reason I voted for McCain Not Him. We shall see what Romneys Philosophy is when he makes his Pick,I would hate to be Romney if after this disaster of a Presidency Romney Loses the election. This is as Close to a NO BRAINER as there could ever be. Only a TOTAL LOSER,and I mean total LOOOOOOSER,could be defeated by this America Hating serially Liar and Traitor.

I agree with that. However the only way we are going to expel them is to have a set of cajones. We need even more Conservatives in congress than we had and Conservatives need to win the Senate.

At that point Conservatives take it to the RINO donors. Move them off of sending money to RINOS. Once the money dries up it is game, set and match.

Romney isn’t even working to get the Conservative voters energized to vote for him.

He's confident we'll come around. We have no other choice. People backed into a corner usually see reason and accept the inevitable.

Or we could talk less to one another and more to the convention delegates.

As for Palin, I disagree with her on a few particles of political positions -- those would be the critical ones (party loyalty, and her decision not to run in 2012). Alaska could have used her in the US Senate if the presidency isn't her cup of tea at the moment. Instead she's wasting her time on Fox, unless she's done with political office permanently. That would be a grievous loss to the nation.

Sarah will be ready for any challenge that will come her way.

Only people with her conviction can put a halt to the progressives, both republican and democrat.

Not a surprise at all, but only another reason to dampen my enthusiasm even more. Why do they want to do that, does not make sense to me? Some will stay home, does this not concern them?

Sun Tzu was referring to people who recognize that they will be annihilated if they don’t fight. Conservatives reconciled to Romney’s nomination think he might win, and if he does, he might turn into a conservative. And then we’ll all live happily ever after.

Why should it concern them? Like they care about conservatives...

Palin’s speech at the 2008 convention was one of the best I’ve ever heard. I despise the GOP-E.

Which is exactly why she is not welcome at the 2012 convention.

They know what happens when their guy gets upstaged at the convention thanks to someone else's great speech. Romney is particularly vulnerable.

Apparently my view does not count with the conservatives in the so-called Republican party. So, as of this time, I plan to stay home on election day. What YOU decide to do is your business.

Don’t stay home, Rap, show up and vote down-ticket. I know how you feel about the slimeballs that are running the GOP, believe me!

The attacks on Palin and her family were particularly vicious, but it was obvious early on that she was on her own for the most part.

When "good men" do nothing, why do we call them "good men"?

In her case, we don't. We call them "GOPe Rinos" and I don't reward that with my support. It's how I know I'm on the opposing team.

Geez, the left media writes that an anonymous advisor "associated" with the campaign says she is being shut out and you guys go ape-s**t in the exact way that they want.....

Pavlov is laughing at you.

You’re right! It’s so uncharacteristic of him to treat Palin this way - much less any conservative...

Speakers have not been formally invited nor schedules have been set to the convention.....BUT and that’s a BIG ‘BUT’.......a former vice presidential candidate is a no brainer in being happily invited in some capacity - big or small role. The mere fact that there is silence instead of a general statement “of course we will find a role in someway for our former VP nominee of our Party’ tells you that they don’t want her to speak or be there. PERIOD. There is no other way to explain that
