Romney’s Palin Problem: Where’s Her Convention Invite? Jul 16, 2012 1:00 AM EDT

Mitt still hasn’t invited Sarah to the GOP’s nomination assembly in Tampa, and the Tea Party is livid. Peter J. Boyer on how the snub could sabotage Romney’s tenuous ties to the grassroots—and why Palin is keeping the week open, just in case.

Exactly. Romney doesn’t control the invite list.

My bad 100%

I’m on the edge this year because of all the lies about Palin in the past.

I need to get over it.

No. That was another dirty trick from Team RomneyCARE.

It is not like they are going to seriously go after Obama,
since they support the same issues.

It can be embarasing. I made a mistake once. I was 5. It hit me so deeply that I never made another ;)

Yeah. No idea who the kid is, but it is the quintessential image of politeness in my eyes.

You miss the point: it’s not Romney’s convention. A much more insidious force is behind the exclusion of Palin: the GOP.

That's almost the dumbest thing he could do, other than pour gasoline on himself and ask for a match.

Pretty much. But if he wants to ‘send a message’ that the conservative base is meaningless to his grand design, that’s the way to do it without outright saying so.

Even if she didn’t ask for or get named to the position, Palin is still the ‘figurehead’ for many people in flyover country. No, not everyone, but a “lot” of us. And Romney knows that a slap in her face is a direct slap in ours.

I guess I learned something...

I ALMOST popped a cork on this post too.

I read...Inviting Palin,That’s almost the dumbest thing he could do, other than pour gasoline on himself and ask for a match.

Gotta slow down a bit.

Mitt's JOB is to LOSE to Obama. What part of "McCain 2.0" is not clear?

Romney can't break out of the tie with Obama because conservatives don't really trust the guy. Only THEY can give him the surge he needs. But Romney is out searching for the Unicorn Moderates.

Palin has been willing to work with the guy, but she won't kiss his ass, and that's what he hates.

Palin is willing to forego the RNC to maintain her integrity, and I say "good for her".

This report, imho, was set up by Palin as a warning to the Romney people, partly to cut out the relentless dissing of her, partly to tell Romney that what he is doing is STUPID.

Watch the Bushie / Romney apparatus come out of the woodwork over the next couple of days to discount what Palin is trying to do for Romney.

Best,

Chris

Sarah was a "pig date". Mc Lame picked what he thought was the worst possible veep to lose.

Boy wuz he wrong!

Mc Lame II, aka Myth Lamely, aka Awful Dull, is in it to lose again!

Mr 0b0tt0 blows so badly that Myth will probably still win.

However even that will not be enough to save our Nation. Only G_d has that power! Until we turn to him, we are going in a very bad direction!

Oh there is no doubt about that. In fact, if the country survives to 2016, we need to be taking a very hard look at the nomination process because it strongly occurs to me that it is designed — and I use that word in the truest sense — to ensure the establishment selected candidate gets the best shot at the nomination.

Sarah to one side, I was stunned, then I was infuriated, then I lapsed into near despair at the way the establishment RINOS and the media colluded to pick off the Conservative candidates that dared run against their chosen figurehead.

This has to be addressed. And it has to be addressed in a way that makes the RINO establishment sit up and take notice. We can’t fall for this happy horsecrap again!

Romney is GOP-e

He always has been.

Palin is not. Never has been.

I have experience with Mormons in politics (was GOP County Chairman in NM in the 1980’s). Be prepared for the train whistle when the time comes. He will bring 1/2 of Utah with him to DC. Nature of the beast.

Could it be that Romney is actually throwing the race and this is a means to lose conservative voters? For such a smart and successful guy he’s also letting the obozo camp define who he is and yet says nothing about who obozo really is nor how obozo’s executive orders have made him more like a tyrant than a president. Romney is blowing it and he’s doing so by design.
