CNBC HOST MAKES MINCEMEAT OUT OF ELIOT SPITZER
Big Journalism ^ | July 15,2012 | by WYNTON HALL

If there were any doubt that Eliot “Client 9” Spitzer has spiraled down into further delusion and irrelevance, it was erased Friday afternoon in an embarrassing and bizarre shootout between the disgraced former NY

Attorney General and CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo. At issue were allegations that a trove of private emails may exist showing the former purchaser of high-priced prostitutes launched a personally motivated prosecution against former AIG chief Hank Greenberg. Of the eight charges Spitzer brought against Greenberg, six have been dropped, with the last two in the process of being dismissed, according to Greenberg’s lawyer. Still, throughout the interview Spitzer alleged numerous times that Greenberg engaged in “fraud,” despite the fact that no federal or state court has ever found as much.

“You can’t say ‘fraudulent’ because there’s no indictment. You can’t just throw around the word ‘fraud,’” challenged CNBC reporter Maria Bartiromo. “Why have six out of eight charges been dropped?”

Finally, just when it seemed Spitzer couldn’t appear any more pathetic and yesterday’s news, Client 9 put in a plug for a TV show he apparently hosts on that ratings juggernaut…Current TV. After the sad and strange spectacle, a lawyer for Greenberg, Lee Wolosky, appeared with Bartiromo. Wolosky said Spitzer’s train wreck of an interview was further evidence of Spitzer’s personal animus toward Greenberg and that Client 9 owes him a long overdue apology.

personal animus toward Greenberg

There were stories that when Client #9 forced Greenberg out, and was replaced by Democrat favoring types, AIG's underwriting became lax, which in turn, help fuel the financial crises towards the end of Bush43.

I didn't follow it well enough to remember if it was pro-Greenberg propaganda, or closer to the truth.

After reading the article I must say...don’t let The SPRITZER point his bazooka at YOU! :)

What a joke. How does this guy still warrant a public forum?

What ever happened to the good old days when disgraced people just disappeared from view?

He doesn’t and in a way they do. It’s called Current TV.

You completely miss the point. You can’t see what actually took place.

Hank Greenburg is a zillionaire. He is old. He has nothing special on which to spend his money. He carries a grudge.

He spent a trifling portion of his money to hire enough detectives to learn every action of Spitzer. He discovered the secret trips out of town. He discovered the prostitutes. He paid them lots of money for the dirt.

Hank Greenburg destroyed Spitzer and may still be after his sorry ass.

Spitzer should spend the rest of his sorry-assed life either in court, or in prison. Y'know, since there's no death penalty in NY state.

Keep in mind the Rat party is a criminal enterprise......

The goal of Barney Franks et al was to develop loans and for housing for all. They wanted Fanniemae/freddie mac as a DNC slush fund. To do that they knew there must be bad loans. To protect the banks there must be massive sales of loans and the development of hybrid securities. There must be insurance to back up all the bad loans.

AIG insured financial transactions. Hank was a straight arrow and would not permit the scam. He was done in. Eliot Spitzer was delegated the job of killing ol hank and getting him out of the way.

Hank got his revenge and destroyed Spitzer.

Destruction is too little. The Governor should have been done in as an example

That was Gary Hart, who famously taunted the press to follow him, to find out if he was up to no good.

Whatta maroon. I guess he thought they were on his side, and wouldn't go after him. WRONG!

Spitzer was acting on DNC orders. He was promised the governorship for his actions. He did not destroy himself. He was done in by Hank Greenburg
