Why has the Obama team been publicly wailing about losing out to Mitt Romney in the money race? Why would the president accuse his opponent of not merely being wrong or unqualified but criminal? After all, the polls are tied, so why so much worry in Obamaland?
...
The Associated Press reports: President Barack Obamas campaign has spent nearly $100 million on television commercials in selected battleground states so far, unleashing a sustained early barrage designed to create lasting, negative impressions of Republican Mitt Romney before he and his allies ramp up for the fall. Think of it like the Confederacys artillery barrage on the third day of Gettysburg before Picketts charge you have to in essence disable the other side before the charge begins or its curtains.
Virtually all of the ads were viciously negative, and judging from the number of Pinocchios theyve racked up, continually and materially false.
But it didnt work. Romney and Obama are still deadlocked.
...
Its not too early to say that Obamas vital signs look dicey. Over the past 33 months, his job approval has been lower than George W. Bushs at a comparable time in his presidency for all but one week. Bush averaged above 50 percent in the quarter before his successful reelection campaign, while Obama has been stuck in the 46-48 percent range for months. And the famous wrong track measure now stands at 63 percent, versus 55 percent in the days preceding the vote in 2004. If these two numbers dont improve for Obama, his presidency will be in jeopardy. And they probably wont unless the economy perks up noticeably.

A real turd would fall apart if held out of water like that.
The history of incumbents being challenged suggests that if Obama wanted a comfortable win over Romney, he would need to be well ahead at this point. His ignorant mudballs are hilariously failing to garner him such a lead. If I were to be utterly Machiavellian, I would tell Obama to attack Romney as being too liberal.
I agree!! Romney should walk out to a news conference with
EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!
Tax records, college records, High school records, selective service records, elementary school records and every other record Barry has hidden.
Then simply ask “Where’s Barry’s records??”
Never happen.
He will go after 0bama like McCain did in '08.
The ONLY way I’ll vote for Flip Romney is if he’s within 1% on the RCP average the day my wife and I vote in absentia (I’m in the Army at FT. Knox, KY and we are Florida voters so we vote via absentee ballot). Otherwise, Libertarian votes from us. However, we are voting Republican in the House and Senate races.
All Romney needs to do is play this. Please take time to listen, maybe we can help it go viral. Was on C4P

Mitt, talk about the tax cheats in Obama’s cabinet!!!!
I hear there are selected states where the cautious Romney campaign is pummeling Obama for fibbing about him (in this case the Bain and outsourcing affair). Maybe they want to see if that will make a difference before taking it nationwide.
i hate obama- can’t stand that POS and am with you....i would love nothing more than watching him taken apart politically piece by piece....i am pretty angry that Romney has not tried to cut this SOB off at the knees....
but i sat back, took a breathe and read a little of this article and took stock for a second:
1) Romney and the GOP have outraised obama and the rats the past two months...more than 30% in June....
2) despite how you feel about him, Karl Rove knows how to win elections...after not having a skin in the game in 2008 he now runs a massive PAC and is gunning for obama & the rats...
3) the groups that got obama elected four years ago (independent voters, disgruntled GOP voters, white males, Catholic vote) have turned against obama...the young voters are fractionally as motivated to vote for obama compared to four years ago...his % lead amongst Jews also seems to be down (78% in ‘08 versus 65% polling last week)...
4) obama cannot run on his record- he’s shooting all the bullets in his gun and its the middle of July...
again- i would love for nothing more than to see a Romney ad pointing out obama’s criminal ways tomorrow, but that points i posted are in fact true...
Rubin just had to take a shot at Sarah Palin near the end of the article. Had it not been for Palin, McCain would have lost much, much worse. I wish she would have never ran as McCain’s VP.
I don’t think it’ll be close, but don’t cut him off at the knees too soon. You don’t want hillary running, do you?
"Obama is now committed to a strategy that isnt working. Hes left to unleash his attack dogs and to pray for a miracle. Maybe the economy will rebound. Perhaps Romney will implode or pick a Sarah-Palin-type for vice president."
If an anti-"Sarah-Palin-type" is what is needed, Lindsey Graham would be a great VP pick sure to give Mitt that extra excitement boost he needs to capture the elctorate.
Virtually all of the ads were viciously negative, and judging from the number of Pinocchios they've racked up, continually and materially false. But it didn't work. Romney and Obama are still deadlocked... [Zero's] job approval has been lower than George W. Bush's at a comparable time in his presidency for all but one week [of the past 33]
Obama's a lost cause.
The foreign job issue is a joke and the Olympics out sourcing cr** is even more amusing.
I agree, but then I see ‘analysis’ (read: Obama’s free PR agency) pieces like this and shake my head in disbelief:

5) The trend of elections beginning in 2009 (Virginia & New Jersey) and continuing in 2010 (massive change in state governments) and to this day (NC, [WV, KY, & AR Dim primaries], and most importantly WI) are definitely not Barry’s friend.
Caught a few minutes of a Fox program today (Pat Caddell and others) who seemed to think Obama's attacks on Romney over Bain would do Romney a lot of damage. Obama is a target-rich environment--the Romney campaign needs to educate the public on all the scandals the mainstream media is trying to keep hidden, and make people aware of the stakes.
Yes but what WaPoo isn't comparing is the treatment Bush and 0Dumbo got in the lamestream press. Bush was savaged by not only the news, but by the pigs in Hollywood on a continuous basis , while the press and Hollywood act like stenographers and fundraisers for the White Hut.
This is not a nationwide race. I live in the blessed conservative state of Oklahoma. One huge blessing is that the One will lose so big here that we hear very few ads for 0bama or Romney.

Truth is if you add in the superpac money, Romney and his superpacs have outspent Obama and his 150m to 115m. The difference is almost none of it has been spent by the Romney campaign itself, while Obama has spent 100m of his campaign funds. That's because they are still spending primary money. Obama has a lot left, Romney spent his. But the Romney superpacs are blowing away Obama's, at least for now.
Reno, NV: Obama accusing Mitt of raising taxes on middle class, then Mittmercial on Obama calling him a liar.
every single commercial break.
I pray you're wrong. Part of me wants to believe that this is a strategy designed to make Hussein waste money during the summer when nobody pays attention.
If only a small percentage of the $800 billion stimulus went into Obama's stash, he'll still have plenty to spend on this election.
I think the tax records deal is a ploy by Romney.
He will release them later, perhaps announcing the release at the first debate. That would be a good plan, stand there on stage with the country watching and then demand Zero release all the records he is hiding.
Only thing that puzzles me is the fact that the IRS has undoubtedly already sent the Romney tax records to Obama.
So if there is nothing scandalous in them they must know this is a setup by Romney!? It’s possible that being socialists they think the fact that he made big profits should be considered scandalous...that won’t fly with the non-communist voting majority.
another right on point, and you even left out Assachussettes in Jan, 2010 to replace Kennedy....
No, it's to keep Bobo from flooding the zone with tax code no one understands (well, I do) and avoid talking about the economy.
I saw Mitt punch back here in VA. Good response ad w/Hillary scolding Zer0.
Agreed, but Bush also never ever defended himself. He looked and acted like a wuss.
“Compassionate Conservative” my arse!
Yes , but that aside, Barry's numbers suck and he doesn't even need to defend himself because
A) He looks like a wuss already
B) the press is carrying water for him.
You mean her:
Uber RINO Lindsey Ping
"Republican by day, Democrat by night."
Want on or off this ping list?
Just FReepmail me.

You left out the millions of stupid members of my own sex ...women ... who I think did more than any other group to get their king elected. That's the group we need to get turned around .. yet I can't seem to turn even my own happy little commie sister, even if I tell her she ought to go live in Cuba cuz she'd love it there. I'm over 70 and still can't believe the idiocy I see in other women!
I don't think it was white males so much - I don't know any who voted for him. But maybe I just know the right white males - due to having given birth to the ones I know best.
That's hilarious.
agree with you about white women but:
“Men
The male vote was essentially tied with 49% voting for Obama, thus evening the score on the male-heavy Republican advantage in 2004.
41% of white males voted for Obama, making him the first Democrat since Jimmy Carter to take more than 38% in this category.”
Wow, I hadn’t realized that - thanks. Let’s pray that the worm turns in both cases.
Don’t forget the birth certificate’ I’m as curious as anybody now, If there is one, I want to see it.
and Rommey is a Felon? then what are Chicago Thugs? Saints?
Somethin' ain't right with this story. Either that, or you can e-mail me in Tierra del Fuego after November. Come on. We're Americans. We couldn't be this stupid. Could we?
I have not seen a single bumper sticker supporting the First Gay President.
Pathetic. The way to keep these fat, tattooed video gamers who live in Mom's basement away from the polls is to offer free hot-dogs in the Wal-Mart parking lot on election day. Or maybe cutting off insulin supplies two weeks before the election ... or stopping food stamps ... poisoning Twinkies and pizza ...cosmic rays stopping video games on their cell phones ... drafting them all ... using them for ship fenders ...
The American electorate ... it could gag a maggot ... or elect one! Just let it be known that any white male who votes for Obama will be thrown the beating of his life ... by me. I just got a new cane and I'll break it over their heads ... a worthy sacrifice indeed.
Wishful thinking. I don't recall anything close to Solyndra-type attack in 2008. Now, I'm not saying that Romney's attacks have forceful enough to my liking. He could do more attack. But to say Romney runs the campaign the way McCain did is just wishful thinking on your part. This is only mid July, and Romney has unleashed several TV ads that McCain wouldn't have considered to do in the Fall '08.
Right out of the Clintoon playbook. For 0bama to be even at this stage with high-persistent unemployment, a breathtaking federal debt growing at a frightening pace, it is amazing for him to be even nationally and in the lead in the swing-states where the ads have run. The 0bama money has been well spent. Others have commented on how Romney assailed his primary opponents. Look back a few months, Romney was behind in some cases double digits a week before an important primary and yet managed a double digit win. Can he hope to pull it off for the big prize? 0bama may be an incompetent POTUS, but he is a proven campaigner who managed to get Electoral College votes from Indiana and other formerly reliably red states. Polling in 2008 consistently had McLame behind. In 1980, it was Reagan behind. Is it 1980, 1996, or 2008 re-dux? Romney is on the Dole path. Both Dole (Kemp) and McLame (Palin) went wide right on the VP choice, but it was too little and too late.

I don’t believe for a minute any of the numbers out there; the Dems have been pummeled in most races since Obama’s election, often in states he won.
Here in NJ it looks like the “shovel-ready” jobs of the stimulus from 3 years ago are getting underway to give the illusion that things are moving again economically, but it won’t work. Too many jobs lost, too many home foreclosures, too many businesses shuttered up; it is impossible to mask anymore. Even the traditional Dem constituencies are doing poorly here; the cities are in terrible shape financially, and many of the municipal employees they’ve been laying off were the affirmative action hires of the last few years (under the last in, first out policies of the police, fire, and teacher unions).
I see no projections with Obama losing NJ, but that certainly is a possibility; Christie won NJ a year after Obama carried it, and remains very popular for his anti-socialist policies (regardless of his views on other issues, he was elected out of economic desperation and has worked well with it). People who would vote Democrat is good times obviously are making a connection to the personal impact of Dem policies on their own livelihood, and there has been a backlash. Obama’s election was a fluke against a horrible candidate in a horrible economy, and the same dynamic now works against him.
Is there any central spot where all the Romney ad runs can be seen along with information about where and when they ran? There are people still saying Mitt is only playing rope a dope and others saying, hey we are getting nonstop Mitt every station break. Something to close that information gap would help (unless Mitt doesn't want it because it would also help Barack).
