In purge of FL ineligible voters, Florida gains access to U.S. database

TALLAHASSEE — A yearlong stalemate between Florida and Washington ended Saturday when the federal government gave the state access to a federal citizenship database, which the state will use to resume an election-year purge of noncitizen voters.

After repeatedly refusing, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security agreed to open its database to the Department of State, which oversees Florida's voter registration system. The state will now cross-check the names of Florida voters against a federal citizenship database known as SAVE, or Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements.

It wasn't clear why Homeland Security changed course, and the department had no comment Saturday. But the reversal comes after a federal judge in Florida refused to halt purge efforts.

The news is a victory for Republican Gov. Rick Scott, who has said the purge is necessary to guarantee fair elections. Democrats and voter advocacy groups have criticized Scott for the action, saying it is aimed at Democratic-leaning voters in an election year. Some groups filed lawsuits to block it.

Within days, Florida will resume the laborious process of purging noncitizens from the list of 11.2 million registered voters. A previous purge based on a flawed list of 2,700 drivers with voter cards who were suspected of being noncitizens ended last month when county election supervisors decided the list was inaccurate and unreliable.

.......Despite misgivings about Scott, a majority of Florida voters agree with him on the need to remove noncitizens from lists of voters.

By a margin of 54 percent to 35 percent, with 11 percent undecided, voters said they support the purge efforts.

Republicans overwhelmingly support the purge, 80 percent to 13 percent, while a majority of Democrats oppose it.

The purge of suspected noncitizen voters was halted last month, but it will soon resume. The state announced Saturday that it has gained access to a federal citizenship database that it says will allow for more accurate screening of the citizenship status of voters.

By a larger margin of 82 percent to 15 percent, voters agreed that people should be required to show a photo ID before they cast a ballot. Florida’s photo ID requirement has been in law since 2002.

What about the remaining states’ ineligible voters?

And Texas’ Voter ID bill is currently being decided by the court after Holder challenged it.

What about those citizens that are registered in two different States?

Hey Stevie, Maybe it was because another Judge ordered them to do so? Or just maybe you missed the story about Florida filing a suit against the Feds for access?

I am really surprised they gave Florida access but time will only tell because maybe something more nefarious is at hand, like the Florida information being wiped out before they send it? Electronic redaction. This bunch does not give up this easily.

Florida has already started that process as a separate, but parallel search.

I doubt that many illegals go down to a polling place and vote. But like 'the dead' they're swept up when dems vote the people who don't show up. In the old days it was done with an ice pick and hammer slammed on stacks of cards - to knock out chads.

When rolls are cleaned it'll be harder to catch dems cheating.

Holder's news conference on the “racist” voter ID issue required all who enter the conference have an ID and be checked. Arrogant criminals need to be brought to justice. If we manage a win in November the fight is still young, we need to pressure the new reps to convene an investigative body to bring these bastards into the light and prosecute them

I wish they’d do this in New York.
My daughter moved out of state 14 years ago and yet when I go to vote, it always appears that she voted before me when the polling clone marks me off on the polling register.

THere should be a form that you fill out at your county clerk, or election clerks office stating she no longer lives in state. Call county office. If it appears she has voted in the past, call the state AG, SOS or file charges with the Sheriff. They get away with it because we do nothing to stop them.

I’ve filled out all the forms. At least a dozen or more times.
I even had the head of the local Republican Party walk it through personally.
It ALWAYS gets lost somewhere after it gets to the election board.
This is New York State and the DemocRATs have a very efficient political machine. This union-friendly welfare state will never ever reform.

The sad thing is they won’t, if the GOP wins, we will hear how they are going to cross party lines and sing kumbaya with the Democrats, they will say how they need to extend an olive branch to the minority party, and then John Mclame will do the rounds in the media saying how the GOP needs to work with the minority leadership because we need to show the American people that we are above such partisan politics. So, McLame, Rove, and the other GOP talking heads will tell the American people that such investigations into the Jutice Dpt., President Obama, questionable bailout recipients, and other assorted crimes and criminals will serve no purpose other than to further divide Americans, not to mention hurting Reid and Pelosi’s feelings now that they no longer have a majority, all the while the Democrats will be conspiring like wolves against the naive sheep of the GOP. The GOP is as loving as a dove and as cunning as a cow!

In that case go to the local leo and file charges. That should get their attention. You have the head of the Rep party as your witness. Also contact media. Start out of state at the top. Breitbart has a tip line on front page. Ask them for help.

Let me tell you one person can make a difference. Remind me to tell you the story of the buses from Chicago in Indy on election day and my brave little cousin....Actions like hers got IN its voter ID laws sooner rather than later.

If we stand back and don’t challenge them they get away with their voter fiasco. Making it public knowledge is one way to stop it.

Because Holder and the rest have finally finished converting all the illegal Democrat-leaning non-citizens on the list into citizens?

My daughter has submitted the forms too. It doesn’t do any good.
The board of elections here is a pit of democrat snakes.

Get their names and go to the outside media. Filing charges DOES get their attention or at least might get them removed from office. You have your testamony as well as your daughters and the head of the R. No local board wants national/statewide attention. Have you contacted state officials and told them what’s happening. SoS and AG both should be able to help. You’ve tried the local route. They don’t think you’ll go beyond that as you keep trying the same thing. GO above their heads.

I don’t know every entitlement they can access, but I know the minor children by law must be educated in our public schools and all ages must receive medical treatement. Have you not heard about at least those two?
