Bentley said that Romney’s refusal to release more returns has created a “distraction” that Democrats were successfully exploiting. “I just believe in total transparency,” Bentley told ABC News at the National Governors Association conference. “In fact, I was asked today that question — do you think that Governor Romney should release his tax returns? And I said I do. I said, I release my tax returns. I may be the only public official in Alabama that does, but I release mine every year and I just believe that people should release their tax returns. And if you get them out and just get past that, it just makes it so much easier.” Bentley, who took office in 2001, warned that failure to do so would continue to open the door for the Obama campaign and their Democratic allies to “cause distractions away from the real issue in this campaign and that’s the economy.”

Is it required by law? If this governor wants transparency, why didn’t he call for Obama releasing everything on the list of documents that many people have demanded?

Hmmm, its quite possible Romneys accountants may have missed something, but if it does come to light would it be enough to jeopardize the election?
This is where Romney says, I’ll release them all if the Kenyan releases his ORIGINAL birth certificate and all passports, all of his college transcripts and applications and all of the Social Security Account Numbers that Barry has used over his lifetime. If he won’t release that stuff, the ‘RATS can stuff it.

I am just amused that Romney gets what he deserves. Since Romney plans to cheat the people and reach across the aisle and impose socialism on us, it is only fair that someone in the party gives him the same treatment.

One could also say that Romney's refusal to release his returns does not help the case of those trying to get Obama to release his sealed documents.

You want transparency all of a sudden, Obama? Let’s see how and why that border guard was murdered. Let’s see who knew what and when at Justice and in the White House. Congress has oversight power on those documents. Obama, you don’t have any power over Romney’s documents. Romney should call him on this!
