Senate Consideration of Treaties September 15, 2009
They tell the Senate it passed and the Senate acts then or sits on it.
Again, homework done! Note the date!
@ quorum
The number of senators that must be present for the Senate to do business. The Constitution requires a majority of senators (51) for a quorum. Often, fewer senators are actually present on the floor, but the Senate presumes that a quorum is present unless the contrary is shown by a roll call vote or quorum call.
If you go to that article on the HSLDA site and use their link it is VERY easy to email your Senator. They even do the letter for you. A few clicks and it’s all over. Painless.
As for myself, I get tired of getting back form letter replies...
Thanks for your concern about...yada, yada, yada
The staff sees e-mails and replies to them, Senators don't. I'm many things and naive isn't one of them.
You write them an actual letter...and you still get back a form letter. {;^)
Hate to tell you but emails are ignored by congresscritters because they can be automated as you pointed out and therefore lack the passion a handwritten letter or phone call has.
Unfortunately article 7 of this document states that the GOVERNMENT decides what happens with your disabled child if/when they get homeschooled and what treatment(s) they receive. I know *many* families who have a mildly autistic child who homeschool specifically to get away from the abuse (molestation) that occurs to some of these children. If this treaty is passed those children would be put in the system over the objections of their parents.
These parents currently take NO money from the government.
It will end up costing you MUCH more money. Not just the autistics, but the adhd/add kids that are being homeschooled to avoid drugging with psych drugs.
This would effectively put the UN (via local unelected social worker) in charge of homeschooling in this country. Think this doesn’t mean anything to you because YOU don’t have a ‘disabled’ child like Sarah Palin? Think again!
I can easily see where homeschooled kids would have to be evaluated by a social worker to determine if, in fact, they had a disability and be ‘approved’ for homeschooling.
Does your 7yr old boy still reverse his N’s and S’s when he writes them and mix up D’s and B’s? Dyslexia! No homeschooling for you!
Is your 8yr old girl a little clumsy? Dyxpraxia! No homeschooling for you!
Does your 5yr old boy have ants in his pants? ADHD! No homeschooling for you!
Does your 12yr old boy stutter? Speech impediment! No homeschooling for you!
Does your 13yr old daughter HATE HATE HATE math? Dyscalculia! No homeschooling for you!
Is your 14yr old son a bit shy? You have an Aspie! No homeschooling for you!
There aren’t very many kids that could pass a biased (and if you think it would be fair you haven’t paid attention to the UN lately...) ‘examination’ for disability in order to be ‘approved’ to be homeschooled.
Again, THIS will put the UN via unelected bureaucrats in total control of the ENTIRE homeschooling movement in this country. Your ability to homeschool at ALL will be subject to prior ‘approval’.
This is NOT just about the Downs or severely autistic kids. Not. At. All.
