ODESSA- Midlanders are mourning the loss of 18-year-old Jacob Power. He recently graduated from Lee High School. Power and 29-year-old Bryan McBride were killed in a wreck on Tuesday night in Glasscock County.
Glasscock County Sheriff Keith Burnett tells NewsWest 9 a dump truck, driven by Ruben Garces, ran a stop sign at FM 2401 and slammed into a pickup on FM 1357. We're told the impact was so hard, the pickup ended up underneath the dump truck.
Power and McBride were inside the pickup during the collision. Both young men died.
Power played football at Lee High School. He was number 37. It seems not one person disliked this bright-eyed young man. Endless comments sending condolences have ben posted on our NewsWest 9 Facebook page.
Miranda Vasquez and Kristian Rodriquez both graduated with Power.
Vasquez tells NewsWest 9, "If I was ever having a bad day he would just look at me and just smile and everything would be better. It's just really sad that he had to be taken because he's not going to get to experience all of the things we'll get to experience."
Rodriguez tells NewsWest 9 he and Power were so close that they were practically brothers.
He says, "He was always smiling. No matter what the situation was. [I'll miss] his laugh and his smile. Everything."
Recent Midland High School graduate Jacob Bell met Power when they were working for the Rockhounds. For Bell, the shock has not worn off.
"I still can't believe it. It still hasn't hit me yet and it probably won't hit me until the funeral. It's difficult to deal with," Bell said.
All three teens agree there is only one lesson they can seem to learn from this tragedy. "It makes you value life. It makes you count your blessings. In an instant, it can be all gone," Bell said.
The driver of the dump truck that slammed into the two young men has been arrested. The Glasscock County Sheriff's Department said that Ruben Garces is a Mexican National who didn't have a driver's license. He's facing charges of involuntary manslaughter.

Who drives dump trucks around at night? And who owned the dump truck driven by an unlicensed driver? Lots of unanswered questions, and the answers are likely to make this story even more worse.
And what the hell is a Mexican National? They make him sound like a diplomat.
Call him what he is. A criminal illegal alien who killed those two American boys.

R.I.P Bryan. The same thing happened to one of my dearest friends. Terry Hinely taught high school German in the inner city of Dallas. One Saturday a number of years ago an illegal immigrant ran a red light and T-boned his car. He and his brother had a band that played around central Texas. He played water glasses at as a glass harmonica. The guy snuffed out the life of a loving husband and terrific father to a little girl, as well as the close relationship he had with many other family and friend.
Same thing happened to my 18 year old son in Houston in 1984.

I do not believe the answer to that question is unknown by the news organization that published the story.
I do believe that piece of information, critical to the reader being able to conclude much of anything useful, was deliberately withheld.

Driving a truck at night? Was he a coyote-—transporting terrorists, drug cartels, and other undesirables, slithering across the border?
Was he a document broker——mfg and selling faked/forged documents for several thousand dollars apiece, so that illegals can establish multiple identities?
