The Taliban utilize the sanctuary of Pakistan, much like the NVA utilized the sanctuaries of Laos/Cambodia. Oh sure, we bombed the piss out of Laos/Cambodia and did a couple of brief "incursions" into both countries but nothing permanent. And our "allies" in Cambodia/Laos were no match for the NVA, any more than the Pakistan Army is a match for the Taliban.
Afraid the end result may be shaping up the same way...

Very good analogy. It seems like Viet Nam and 1970 all over again, except for the protests. Nobody wants to be there, nobody knows how to win, nobody knows how to get out, and soldiers are dieing.
