( Cinnamon Heathcote-Drury ) was waiting to pay at the checkout when she noticed a man with two small children also queuing. They were joined by a woman wearing a hijab and a long black tunic who began unloading an overflowing trolley, one item at a time.
She says: ‘I glanced over and thought, “This poor woman’s going to be there for hours.” Her husband was standing closest to me, so I said to him, “Will you help her?”
‘He said, “I’ve got the children.” I said, “Well, I can help her” and he replied, “What’s it to you?” I said, “This is what feminism’s about – women helping women.”
He said, “Oh, get lost.” I looked at the woman and said, “We live in a society in Britain where rights are equal – if you need help you can ask for it.”
‘The husband came up behind me and said in my ear, “You f*** off,” ‘I wanted to get out of the shop as quickly as possible, but he approached me again.’
She called for a security guard and when one arrived, he began speaking to the man. Meanwhile, Miss Heathcote-Drury, who had paid for her shopping, was making her escape down the aisle when she claims she felt a sharp pain in her left shin and stumbled.
‘The woman was standing with her hand on her hip and smirking. She wanted to humiliate me. Then she hit me on the left cheek.’
Today the elegant 41-year-old is exhausted, but grateful finally to have her chance to explain the truth about this strange and disturbing case.

We have our own clear division of labor in the check out line, I watch carefully the prices rung up, to prevent the inevitable overcharging at the register (I have an uncanny ability to remember the shelf price of everything which goes into the cart) while Mrs. Mate unloads the cart.
I load all the groceries into the car, and unload them at home.
What impression this makes on bystanders, I care for very little.
I think the pain she's feeling is neither from being slapped nor called a racist. It's the pain of realizing that everyone else is not a fellow condescending shytehead.

When we were returning from China after our first adoption, we flew out of Hong Kong. This was one year post 9/11 and there were guards with machine guns as we walked to the plane.
My blond haired husband with the redhaired wife and chinese child was pulled out of line for a full body search and I was made to do on ahead into the plane, carrying baby, bags, stroller, purse etc. Behind us, clear as day, was a muslim man. He walked through untouched. It pissed me off to no end.
I get to my seat and tried to get the stroller into the overhead with one hand while holding a crying baby with the other. Suddenly two arms enlosed around me and not only stowed my stroller, but the reat of my gear, and then ask me if he could assist me any other way.
I nearly passed out...it was the muslim man behind me in line.

March of 2002 I was in Saipan with my Japanese (ex)wife.. While waiting to board the flight back home (Japan), I was pulled out of the line and groped, wanded, tested for xplosives from my shoes to my hair (sticky patches).. it also included all of my luggage..
There were about 35 of us in line... I was the only Caucasian, yet I was also the only one to get pulled out to have this happen to.
I haven’t flown since.. :p

Our board of supervisors has decided to end the tradition of beginning each session with prayer. Because of an email complaint by a user of county services but not a county resident. (Which pisses me off for a variety of reasons). The kicker is the complaint was received after the last BOS meeting where the 3rd mosque was discussed.
