Bob Kerrey's wife, Sarah Paley, rues his political career, disses Nebraska in Vogue essay
The Washington Post ^ | July 10,2012 | The Reliable Source

Here’s an interesting twist on the adoring political spouse: Does it matter to voters if a wife or husband really, really doesn’t want to be part of the campaign?

The former “Saturday Night Live” writer, 55, met the glamorous bachelor in 1995 when he was still in office. The two fell in love and then “I lured him to my hometown, New York City, when he decided not to run again,” she wrote. They married in 2001 and settled in Greenwich Village where they’ve raised their son Henry, now 10.

Describing herself as “secretive” and “so private,” Paley said she doesn’t much like politics — or anything that requires social interaction. (“My idea of a good time is when people cancel.”) What do you think about Nebraska, Ms. Paley? “The Midwest is a strange land for an Easterner of my ilk,” she wrote, describing anti-abortion billboards and the deer carcasses her son frolics among. Oh, and take note, Cornhuskers: She doesn’t like football.

Is this Paley being funny? Or is it — as some critics suggested — a condescending, East Coast put-down? A few Nebraskans noted that her essay wasn’t written for voters, but for Vogue, for whom she posed wearing a Narciso Rodriguez dress and Manolo Blahnik heels.

We reached out to Paley, who did not respond to requests for comment. Kerrey told the Omaha World-Herald that while it might appear his wife is “making fun of Nebraskans,” she is just a comedian trying for laughs.

Never mind her other snarky comments. She doesn’t like the Huskers! Proud Nebraskans will have the last laugh on Election Eve.

Guess she thinks huskers are too dumb to read Vogue. Guess Bobb will be headed to NYC rather than DC. Classic way to cut the legs out from under your spouse

My understanding of the statement is she does not like football as a sport. Looks like her clever by half statements will get her hubby into trouble.

I bet a significant percentage of "cornhuskers" agree with her. Like 1/3.

After all, they sent her left-wing husband to congress for how many years? He didn't have to fool everyone who voted for him.

Gee, I am a Connecticut Yankee who found the pro-life billboards and deer carcasses to be part of the attraction of the midwest, and moved there.

Dear Bob:

See Lugar, Dick.

Don't quit your day job...

They live in Greenwich Village, NYC?

Any Nebraskan that votes for this guy is nuts.

I’m pretty confident that Nebraska will send Deb Fischer to the Senate and Kerrey back to NYC. I’ve been following the race pretty closely (live in Omaha) and the last Rasmussen poll had Deb up by 18%.
One of the popular (and very successful) slogans I’ve heard thrown around is why send a third Senator from NYC to Washington?

Going to NYC after a long Senate career is even WORSE than "going native" and living in Maryland or Virginia. It would be sort of like being on a diplomatic mission in East Germany during the Soviet era and retiring to Moscow afterwards.

“The Midwest is a strange land for an Easterner of my ilk,”

###

Well, we’re even then, because the diseased, Communist Northeast is a consummately fu#&ed-up, strange land for us midwesterners.

Fischer is beating Kerrey like a rented mule! Looks like he took (or will take) one for the team. Probably his last visit to Nebraska...

Having just sent this to Nebraska friends I suspect that one comment alone will doom his aspirations if all the rest of his dumb stuff doesn’t.

I reckon Henry will be looking at changing schools twice...

With this NYC baggage, I am hardly convinced Bobbbb is all that interested in running either, in Nebraska. A resume put out to the considered rubes he left behind is not a gesture of dedication to the people.

A snob in high heels trailing along behind you, penning snark in foo foo NY mags is not a winning ticket, surely.

Kerrey traded on his war record and “moderate Democrat” credentials in the past, but I think Ben Nelson cured Nebraskans of that disease.

If campaign finance contributions are an indicator, the state is 73/27% R vs D, so your number may not be far off. As is the case across the rural midwest, the urban areas of Omaha and Lincoln are the bluest pockets in a deep red state.

He didn’t do Nebraskan any favors, the first time he supposedly represented them. I hope you are right; but never underestimate the power of stupid voters in large numbers. Just think, if it weren’t for the Benator, and his votes, shenanigans, Cornhusker kickback, etc, we would not have Obamacare right now.

“Glamorous bachelor”... really? On exactly what planet is this POS libtard considered “glamorous”?
