Rasmussen Flo Sen : Mack (R) 46%, Nelson (D) 37%
Rasmussen Reports ^
Posted on 07/11/2012 9:22:26 AM PDT by sunmars
Republican Congressman Connie Mack draws his highest level of support yet against incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson in Floridas 2012 U.S. Senate race.
A new Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Mack earning 46% of the vote to Nelsons 37%. Seven percent (7%) prefer some other candidate, and 10% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
The numbers were flipped back in April when Nelson held a 47% to 36% lead over Mack. At that time, Mack still had heavy competition for the GOP nomination and was being heavily criticized for a lackluster campaign. The contest was closer in earlier surveys.
This race is now considered Leans Republican in the Rasmussen Reports Senate Balance of Power. Elections for 33 U.S. Senate seats will be held in November, and Democrats have more than twice as many seats they now hold at stake compared to seats with Republican incumbents.
Mack is expected to easily win the Republican primary on August 14. Nelson was elected to the Senate in 2000 to fill the seat vacated by Macks father.

Huge swing back to GOP from April on this seat.
Obamacare went down like a lead ballon in Florida. Hopefully Connie can remove that cancer Nelson double asap.

Assuming these figures are accurate this is big...big for several reasons, including taking the Senate *and* measuring the possible sentiment toward Osama Obama.

Looking good. Let’s hope we can move the Florida race in the Gain column soon after the primary if this holds up.

Margin of error or just plain error. The race is fairly close and probably won't move much until after the primary.
If Connie makes it to the Senate he'll fit right in. The only question is when he'll come out for gay marriage.

killer line : Mack draws 86% support from voters in his own party, while Nelson is backed by just 66% of the state’s Democrats.

There was a Quinnipiac from June 23 which had Nelson 43%, Mack 39%, and one from June 27 which had Nelson 41%, Mack 40%. Still a lot of people undecided.
An incumbent polling around only 40% in three polls a few weeks apart is not going to get the job done.

The implications for the national race are obvious; less obvious are the negative implications for any vice presidential hopes nurtured by Barack Obama.
My guess is we are seeing a break across the country against Obama and the Democrats judging from these data and the news favoring a big bulge for Republicans among independents , the recent modest move nationally by Romney over Obama according to Rasmussen, and the polls showing voters favor congressional Republicans over congressional Democrats.

Saw a billboard with Karen Harrington on it the other day.
She’s dws’s first ever opponent (2010 40k to 25k votes).
East-bound on 595 from Univ. Dr.
I plan on volunteering for her before the election. My Father-in-law worked in West’s office for 2 weeks before last elec.

Would it have been so inconvenient for you to spell out the name of the state in the title instead of typing “FLO”, which isn’t even a standard abbreviation for Florida. The USPS postal code abbreviation for Florida is FL and the other standard abbreviation for Florida is Fla.
To: stefanbatory
Flo hangs around until ‘last call’ but still leaves alone.

Well he was strong enough to win a statewide election in 1994 and again in 1998.
Bill McColluom should have beat him in 2000 but probably ran a lackluster race.
K Harris was a joke so this is first real reelection test.

FYI..a few weeks ago the Tampa Trib...ultra liberal rag, had an article about Nelson..the usual puff piece...talking about how he was going to win re-election...The consensus was tghat he woudl have to "run several point AHEAD of Obama" in order to keep his seat.
Good luck with that!!..and it shows that in effect the Dems have already written off FL's electoral votes. I've been saying for months that it is all over here in the Sunshine State...Obama loses 54-46%..it won't be close..
