I listened to most of his speech. It was actually pretty good.
what was the reaction from the audience??? glad to see someone at least attempt to tell the truth....
It was a decent speech. Not game-changing, but decent. He actually gave a fairly creditable defense of why free enterprise is the best way to create jobs. He was booed considerably when he repeated his mantra about repealing Obamacare, but got some support when the went through his educational policies (charter schools, parental choice, etc.).
I doubt he changed many minds in the room. Those predisposed to like him probably came away a bit more enthusiastic. Those who merely hate him on the basis that he is a rich white guy, probably still hate him.
Best part of the speech was the way the last parts of it were punctuated with organ stings. I bet that was a first for him.
yep.....
...and they didn’t throw their shoes at him, either!
I watched it too and was impressed in spite of myself with the straight talk. He received a lot of applause as well, (which also shocked me a little.)
I would have brought a copy of Obamacare. And when the crowd booed over repealing it, I'd have slammed the 7 pounds of paper down on the podium. And when the "thunk!" sound silenced the crowd I would quietly say:
"Here it is. This is Obamacare. Nancy Pilosi told us we had to vote for it to see whats in it. Well now we know. Its 21 new taxes. It is IRS forms, limited doctors, and death panels. It will guarantee longer waits, decline in quality and less control over your care. And the most frightening thing about it is, its not even complete. It has many sections that have not even been written yet. Thats hundreds maybe thousands more pages to come. We know 80% of doctors that have read it, are considering leaving the medical field completely. This is not the answer. You deserve better. We can repeal this nightmare and allow America's doctors and hospitals to do what they do best, provide the most advanced and comprehensive health care in the world."
