Obama Trails Romney Again in Battle for Campaign Cash
The New York Times ^ | July 9, 2012 | NICHOLAS CONFESSORE

In the battle for political cash, President Obama is finding himself in an unaccustomed place during the final months of the 2012 campaign: he is losing.

Mitt Romney and the Republican National Committee easily outraised the formidable Obama money machine for the second month in a row. A nonstop schedule of high-dollar events around the country brought in $106 million during June to Mr. Obama’s $71 million, giving him and his party four times the cash on hand that it had just three months ago.

Whenever a propaganda arm of the Obama Administration and the Democrat Party write an article, you have to read into the article the same way the Russian people used to read Pravda, ie, look for hidden meanings.

Obama trailing fundraising by $35 million probably means it's twice as much, and that the spigot is drying up. The only groups that still solidly back B. Hussein are black women (try getting a dollar from them!) and homosexuals (a reliable funding source, but with them being only 0.3% of the U.S. population, not very many of them).

I agree with Dr. Limbaugh about the direction of the Romney campaign- he needs to make this election about Obama, using the three legged stool- less government, strong defense, and pro-family social policies. That said, we could nominate a feces-throwing howler monkey for President and he could beat Obama this term. However, if Romney becomes aggressive in his campaigning, he could turn the comfortable victory into a bloodbath for the Democrats, changing the political landscape the same way Roosevelt's 1932 election changed the landscape for the Democrats.

Romney's not my first choice, nor even my second nor third. However, he's the only candidate that can defeat Obama. Choosing Romney over Obama is like choosing a slow-acting flesh-eating bacteria over the Bubonic Plague. You can always deal with the bacteria later, but before you do that you have to get rid of the Black Death. By getting Tea Party Conservatives elected in massive numbers, that'll ensure Romney gets pulled right once he's elected President.

No mention of the economy eh?

I heard a little of Rush's "don't bother with the economy--nobody cares" proposal.

Huh? If true that nobody cares, or that a majority of people are happy with this neo-depression, then the election is moot anyhow.

But if not (and the polls clearly show the Economy @ #1 concern) then ceding the Economy to Obama will let them turn it into a positive. If Romney doesn't cast the economy as bad, Obama will cast it as fantastic....and he's got the magic numbers mill to back up his folly.

It’s not a shopping spree. I mean, the best financed campaigns buy the most minutes of mind-numbingly stupid TV advertisements. Some of those minutes turn people off. Dollars not well spent.

You read it wrong. I say this is deliberate subterfuge. The money is going elsewhere, to SuperPACs and others aligned with Obama so "billion dollar" Obama can use the fundraising disparity to reinforce his war on Romney's wealth.

There's no chance in hell the Republican side will outspend the Democrats' interests in November.

Obama has a lot more campaign money than Romney

"The lie needs to be put to the very idea that President Obama might be outspent during the 2012 election. Nobody knows how much the candidates and campaign will raise in the weeks ahead, but, so far, the numbers are pretty clear. To date, the Democratic National Committee, the Obama campaign and Obama super PACs have raised $471,400,000. This does not include at least $400 million that the labor unions have pledged to spend on Obama’s behalf. The Romney campaign, Republican National Committee and Romney super PACs have raised $264,223,126 — and much of that was spent during the Republican primary contest.

Anyway, there is a myth in American politics today that Obama will be outspent by Mitt Romney. Maybe that myth exists because Democrats, including Carter Eskew and President Obama, say it is so. It must be a fundraising tactic to scare contributors into giving, because the numbers suggest something completely different.

If I’m wrong about these numbers, I wish that Carter, President Obama or other readers would let me know. Let’s not quibble over groups like the NRA or the Sierra Club. But any honest analysis of the funding at the top of the ticket confirms that Obama has a huge advantage. As more reliable information is confirmed, I will pass it along. In the meantime I think that the Obama campaign’s complaints about being outspent by Romney should be greeted with skepticism.

As for the campaigns themselves, Obama began with a $100 million cash advantage, and still has nearly $100 million more in cash on hand. Romney has been doing much better than Obama at fundraising lately, but he had to spend a great deal on the primary campaign, while Obama faced no serious primary opposition. Since the primary season concluded and Romney officially became the nominee, the Obama campaign has outspent Romney 3-to-1, and the Obama ads have been over 75 percent negative."

These are reported figures filed with the FEC. In 2008 Obama raised about $750 million, more than twice that raised by McCain. If Romney raises about as much as Obama that is a victory.

The one issue that plagues Obama is that he is outspending Romney 3 to 1 since the end of the primaries. It is a high risk strategy that aims to define Romney early and possibly to draw Romney out so he starts spending his funds now making him weaker in the Fall.

Obama will not lack for funds. SEIU and the other unions will provide him with plenty of money along with Hollywood and Soros. Romney just has to remain about even to negate the huge advantage that Obama enjoyed over McCain. FWIW: Karl Rove thinks Obama is making a mistake setting up his campaign offices and spending on ads so early. It remains to be seen how the Obama high risk strategy works out.

You are right too .
The Obama media literally publishes every Axelrod press release as ordered like this fund raising lies .
We live in scary times when the US media is owned and operated by Soros operatives and America hating sociopaths .

Absolutely. As Carville said about '92, "It's the economy, stupid!"

Suggesting Romney ignore the economy to run on "pro-family social policies?" Did that get Romney the GOP nomination? Yes, yes I suppose it did because Rick Santorum ran on that and lost.

"Strong defense" isn't on voter's radar. With OBL gone, and even when he wasn't, any 'threats' are too abstract unless something breaks in the next 3 months.
