Obama To Sign Anti-Second Amendment U.N. Gun Grab
IBD Editorials ^ | July 9, 2012

Second Amendment: The United Nations is putting the finishing touches on an Arms Trade Treaty that transcends borders and may even trample our Constitutional right to bear arms. Every indication is that the president will sign it.

Like the New Start and Law of the Sea treaties before it, as well as the Kyoto Protocol and Agenda 21, the Arms Trade Treaty being finalized at the U.N. this month is one of those feel-good, can't-we-all-get-along pieces of parchment whose net effect is to accomplish little except to eat away at American sovereignty and freedom.

Just as the world's worst human rights violators sat on and often chaired the U.N. Human Rights Council, Iran, arms supplier extraordinaire to America's enemies, was elected on Saturday to a top position on the United Nations Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty being held in New York. It began July 2 and extends through July 27.

This came right after the same U.N. found Iran guilty of illegally transferring guns and bombs to the murderous Syrian regime of Bashar Assad, currently slaughtering thousands of its own citizens as an impotent U.N. joins the U.S. administration in standing around and watching.

The mindset of the one-worlders preaches that guns cause crime and war and if we only get rid of those otherwise inanimate objects the evil that lurks in the hearts and minds of men will suddenly dissipate. Then we can buy the world a soft drink and sing "Kumbaya."

He can have fun trying. I guess he forgot about the 2010 Tea Party wipe out experienced in the House.

This treaty is legally irrelevant. The Senate will prevent ratification forever (or until our country is dead and it doesn’t matter). The treaty is also politically crucial. This is clear proof that Fast and Furious represents the official position of the thugs in our White House. They want to take away the rights of real Americans, those of us who “cling to God and to guns”, by any means necessary. Obama disgusts me. We have to get every eligible conservative registered to vote in time and then at the polls on election day in November.

he can’t sign it unless the senate ratifies it with a 2/3rd majority vote. Good luck with that.

The Supreme Court, however, is fine with it.

This treaty is legally irrelevant.

Not to mention, it is not unheard of for countries to ignore treaties when doing so is to their benefit ...

This can only end badly for freedom loving Americans, it appears that we are on a historic path to change the very makeup of the world.

May all who support the New World Order perish in the flames of violent resistence.

“A people unwilling to use extreme violent force to obtain or preserve their liberty deserves the tyrants that rule them.” me

The UN would be well advised to move their HQ to some other country before they attempt to enforce this here.

We have to get every eligible conservative registered to vote in time and then at the polls on election day in November.

Ay, there's the rub.

Just look around here on FR. There is quite the schism on the Right and a great many who say steadfastly that they will never vote for Romney.
Thereby handing Obama his second term.

They believe a viable 3rd party candidate will appear like magic, solidify the Right and beat Obama. As much as I'd like that to happen, I'm a realist.

The senate can’t approve a treaty under budget reconciliation . . . Right?

Well, I've always said that treaties were made to be broken.

I was just thinking that if the UN had this treaty already, Holder and Obama would be under the UN jail for givng guns to Mexican drug Cartels.

He should be careful what he signs.

Not so!

Once the administration signs the treaty, regardless what Congress does or does not do, executive & agency actions will be determined by terms of that treaty.

Note: "determined" versus "mandated" or even "necessitated"...The powers that be will simply act as though the signature will eventually be approved in congress.

By the time congress & the states actually say NO, it's too late.

BY WHAT STINKING RIGHT DOES ONE MAN GET TO COMMIT US TO ANY TREATY?

WHY DON’T SUBSEQUENT PRESIDENTS TELL THE UN TO GO TO HELL?

HOW CAN IT BE POSSIBLY BE LEGALLY BINDING FOR ONE MAN TO SELL OUT THE USA FOR EONS TO COME? SOMEBODY EXPLAIN THIS TO ME.

I THOUGHT ALL TREATIES HAD TO BE SENATE RATIFIED OR THEY WERE NULL. WHY IS THIS REQUIREMENT BEING IGNORED? WHO DO WE HAVE TO SUE TO NEGATE ALL TREATIES THAT ARE NOT SENATE RATIFIED AND HOW DO WE PLACE A PROHIBITION ON COMPLIANCE WITH ALL SUCH SENATE NON-RATIFIED TREATIES?

Shouting required because I live in a Dictatorship and I scream at Dictators.

Seems Howdy Doody has forgotten an important part of his oath.

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

I believe it also says alittle something about ALL enemies foreign and domestic. Seems to me the enemy is in the WH.

NOVEMBER 2012 we defeat the enemy within!!!

He can sign the Treaty, but then must submit it to the Senate to ratify.

The fun starts when he tries to enforce it without ratification.

Obama is an illegitimate dictator and any treaty he signs is a dead letter.
