When they succeed, there is this rock I’d like to give these workers. Perhaps they can get the water out of it...

Interesting. How will the city of Scranton issues paychecks when they only have $5000 in their check book? Looks like a Mexican standoff.

What will Obama do?

Isn't Biden "from" Scranton? Send him to "help".

In the real world, Dunder Mifflin would be closing their Scranton office.

“Judge: Scranton, must pay employees full wages

Mayor: But there’s no more money!

Judge: That’s no excuse!

Mayor to Chief of Police: Arrest the Judge and put him in jail!

Now that’s a perfect world!

The Mayor wants to raise taxes, the City Council wants to borrow more money. Does it occur to no one to fire some workers?

So let their paychecks bounce. Maybe the Union nitwits will get a clue.

Local governments with federal funding: gangs of lowest, filthiest robber-parasites on the planet, all dressed up with the money that they stole from you under threat of violence and further robberies.

They can force the city to issue checks, but if the banks refuse to cash them, because of NSF’s, nothing has been gained.

Scranton will have to declare bankruptcy and an administrator will be appointed who will have the authority to do all that this judge is saying that the Mayor cannot do, and more.

The can got kicked down the road a few weeks or months. There will most certainly be layoffs & service cutbacks in the short-term.
