Wednesday, on the United States' 236th Independence Day, Ubisoft sent around the newest trailer for October's fervently-awaited "Assassin's Creed 3."
I have to respectfully disagree with a couple industry writers and commentators who thought the trailer was "terrible," tapping into "good old Tea Party-style American nationalism" and (this is the best one) "jingoistic bull****apocalypse."
The real problem I have is the accusation that the trailer "takes itself too seriously," and that it somehow is inappropriate to invoke the viewpoint of rebellious Americans in the midst of a violent war.
Furthermore, how can you accuse a game of wrongly including "Tea Party-style" sentiments when, you know, the actual Boston Tea Party had taken place just prior to the games timeline?
My personal politics are nowhere near those of the modern day Tea Party, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying "pro-America" films like "Top Gun," "Black Hawk Down" and this trailer.

We were represented at E3 recently here in L.A. and we were given the “working” copy of AC3 from those guys at Ubisoft. I mean, the prelim levels brings you back to the American Revolution and you kill redcoats with a tomahawk. How cool is that? :) We were just shaking our heads how this product got approved at their QA when Ubisoft is French-owned.
One thing about those Ubisoft guys, they told us (mgmt) when they made Ghost Recon, they actually hired an ex-Navy Seal instructor to tell them about specific firearms used in modern warfare and after that, EA copied them so that pissed them off LOL. Good bunch of guys, not as lame as EA with their “we invented Madden, who the F are you?” attitude.
And don’t believe this anti-US BS. We were there at the convention floor when kids were playing it, and everyone loved it.
Is Assassin's Creed about the American Revolution? Does it take place in the western hemisphere? I sort of thought it was a medieval middle eastern thing.

The Assassin’s Creed line focuses on the Knights Templar, which is what the story line looks like it’ll be about in Assassin’s Creed III, dealing with the American Revolution (in regards to the belief that the Knights Templar went on to become the Freemasons, as many of our founders were).

The game is really set in the future where a man, who is descended from Assassins, are after the Knights of the Templar. The protagonists enters into a hypnotic state/virtual world where he experiences historical battles/situations to unravel a mystery.
Yeah, but would you say it to his face? ;-)
And this trailer was stupid as hell.
The points in the trailer fit perfectly with today’s environment under the 0bama regime!
The french would approve of killing redcoats.
Now if it was the french-Indian Wars and you were killing frenchies that would be another story.
Hubby has been anxiously awaiting this game.
Like the part with His Excellency George Washington looking on approvingly as the dude makes mince meat of Grenadiers.

I believe I may have had an ancestor in the redcoat, so I suppose that colors my perception, but still...
As far as this game trailer...My main beef with 'assassins creed' has always been the strong anti-Christian slant. This one annoys me additionally because the character is not even in correct period dress! The hybrid colonial-indian-assassin look I assume they wre going for failed miserably. Honestly, they should have just ditched the silly hood.
Why, oh why is it OK for blacks, hispanics, women, indians, homos.... just about every "type" of person to be proud of their heritage or who/what they are except for white males? It's even politically incorrect to be proud to be an American!
Well, the heck with that, I say! I'm proud of to be a white male and I'm proud to be an American, and I say, "Too bad!" to all those who think a pox on Americans. The Republican presidential nominee should jump on this idea and use a "proud to be an American" theme.
Why can't we get another Reagan-type to run for office?

I hold a grudge a long time and it makes me sick when I see Americans and American media making such a big deal about European royalty especial British royalty. If it was up to me no member of British royalty would ever be allowed to step foot on American soil under any circumstance even to this very day.
I was watching something about the royal family and it truly is shocking the amount of deference they receive. For example, the "yeoman of the cellars" was explaining how important it is that "only ze fineest shaped iceh-cubes" can be placed in the queen's lemonade. I agree that it is sickening when Americans make such a big deal about the royal family. I suppose for Britain they are a tourist attraction.
Of course, we have since acquired our own imperial family nad nobility class...
I agree but in battle mode on AC3, you get to massacre an entire limey battalion with Washington as your general in the field, I kid you not. There’s a character with an arrow that shows “washington” in one scene. I guess one Tea Party dude really was a developer for the game. :)
Effective mix of live action and CGI.
Even that guy is wearing a hoodie.
Ditto. Add all relatives of the current emperor of America.
Art both drives and follows popular feeling.
There are a lot of interesting things coming out that suggest the elite have missed that the mob has turned.
