Ann Romney: We’ve been looking at the option of a woman for VP
Hot Air ^ | July 5, 2012 | Erika Johnson

From the same CBS News /interview that Allahpundit highlighted yesterday, Mitt’s wife Ann Romney added a few interesting tidbits to the conversation:

Ann Romney: Obama's whole campaign strategy is "let's kill this guy"

Firstly, I think Mrs. Romney has it exactly right on Obama’s core campaign strategy:

“I feel like all he’s doing is saying, ‘Let’s kill this guy,” she said, seated next to her husband… “And I feel like that’s not really a very good campaign policy. …

In August, some Democratic strategists let leak to the press that Obama’s top aides were looking at a massive character takedown of Romney in light of a deterring economy; “kill Romney” was a phrase used by one. “That was their memo that came out from their campaign,” Ann Romney said. “And it’s like, ‘not when I’m next to him you better not.”

With the economy oscillating somewhere between mildly demoralizing and positively terrible, Obama can’t run on his vast record of broken promises. The ObamaCare-Tax ruling certainly didn’t do him any favors as far as giving him leeway to tout his achievements, so it’s all “evil profit-seeking Bain Capital did this” and “as Massachusetts governor, Mitt Romney did that” — they’re definitely playing up the cheap populism on his swing-state bus tour today and Friday. (The bus tour is titled “Betting on America.” Translation: Mitt Romney outsourced jobs!)

Secondly, a little hint at what might be going on in the vice presidential vetting, perhaps?

Mitt Romney’s wife says her husband is thinking about picking a woman to be on his ticket this fall.

Ann Romney says in an interview, “We’ve been looking at that and I love that option as well.” …

The former Massachusetts governor, who was joined by his wife for the interview, declined to describe the status of the vice presidential search, saying “that’s something I’m keeping close with my team.”

Hmmm: An honest-to-goodness clue, or just another red herring in the Veep-speculation du jour? Sen. Kelly Ayotte, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, and Gov. Susana Martinez would be my guesses — Ayotte and McMorris Rodgers have been especially staunch surrogates for Romney in the campaign so far. But of course, only Team Romney really knows who’s on the list, and I’m sure they’re “considering” and seriously vetting at least a few people, so a lady may very well be an option as much as anyone else right now.

“Personally, I think this is a diversion. I’d almost guarantee that it won’t be a woman.”

I agree. It will be either McDonnell or Portman.

Sarah Palin

The Dems and Libs would so wet their pants, they would be in hysterics. And hysterics leads to dis-organization

Palin kept McCain from being a 50 state slaughter in the last election. Romney has baggage....but no Illegal Alien Amnesty, no abandoning POW/MIA in ‘Nam, no suspending campaign for bank bailout, no Lindsey Grahamnasty as close buddy, no fat daughter with a liberal problem....

Are those Ron Paul’s feet?

I don’t miss him, or his little shoes either.

1984- Mondale chooses a woman veep and got smoked in the fall.
2008 - Hillary seems to be the unquestioned frontrunner among Democrats but they wind up burying her and choosing Obama.
2008 - McCain chooses Palin as a woman Veep and gets smoked.

1984--An extreme liberal chooses an extreme liberal woman veep and gets smoked by an extremely popular conservative president

2008--An extreme liberal, Hillary, gets torpedoed by an another extreme liberal by means of alleged voter fraud and other primary irregularities.

2008--A liberal McCain chooses conservative Palin and immediately sees his popularity increased and fundraising efforts bear more fruit.

The conclusions are 1. a conservative woman is a greater help to a candidacy than a liberal woman, and 2. conservatism, whether actual or perceived, is more important than liberalism.

There is only ONE woman I would support for VP. We all know who that is.

Liz Cheney?

Oops, that's probably just me. However, I'd also be very supportive of whom you are likely referring to. I wonder if Mrs. Romney is talking about NM Governor Susana Martinez? Or, the Romney camp could just as easily be doubling down on Michigan and be considering Jennifer Granholm.

I originally intended Granholm as a joke but, somehow, I just can't put it past him...

If Romney does ask Gov. Palin and IF she would accept, this would be a gutsy move on Romney’s part. That is why I doubt it would happen.

She would tear Biden a new one in each and EVERY debate!

What is with the “WE” in her statements?

I would certainly ask my wife of 32 years about the most important decisions I have to make...I would be deeply concerned if he didn't seek her advice ..

Couple married for as long as the Romneys have this innate ability to "see" what their spouses cannot "see" in people and bring a balance to a viewpoint...

Why?

Is it a beauty pageant?
Whatever happened to merit?

Suddenly, it’s all about who is a woman, black, Native American...

Heaven forbid that the best person for the job might be a White Christian Male... bastards don’t deserve it.... kill them all! < /s>

Some threads bring out the shills who don't quite dare to bash an obviously nice lady and a mom like Ann Romney.

They tried to pick on her for riding horses (gasp!) and got some blowback for their efforts.

Looking at women for VP, or at least saying that they're looking at women, is a smart move. Keeps the interest in Romney while Obama is driving around in his Canuck bus whining...Bain Bain Bain...

There are no women more capable than Sarah Palin. Kelly ayotte is laughable and so are the other less qualified females. Yes, they are looking at women [why wouldn’t they?]
and the male/female short list would be pawlenty and Palin, forget everyone else.

Will never happen. Romney will pick a man, someone who will not outshine him.

Interesting. Marxism is now the law of the land, and these nitwits are concerned with genitalia.

Exactly. Pure, shallow, identity politics.

Like when Laura Bush suggested that those of us who opposed Harriet Miers were “sexist.”

I despise such shallow stupidity.

I think you are over contemplating this:

Palin.

Yes.

So you think Palin turned down a run for president, citing family issues, but she will now run for VP.

Put down the crack pipe. LOL

I think so.

At least it’s worth a try. Until I hear “no” from her, I’ll lobby for her.
