If the new health care law wasnt enough of a mess before last weeks Supreme Court decision, that ruling actually added another layer of cost, complexity and political contentiousness to the bill.
By striking down part of the law that required states to expand their Medicaid programs, the court tossed a very hot potato into the laps of state lawmakers everywhere.
ObamaCare required states to increase eligibility for Medicaid to 133 percent of the poverty line, or roughly $30,000 per year for a family of four. The expansion would also make childless single men (a notoriously high-cost group) eligible for Medicaid for the first time. In all, about 40 percent of all the people projected to gain coverage under ObamaCare would do so via Medicaid.

But this imposed real costs on states. For example, the Medicaid expansion would cost New Jersey taxpayers roughly $35 billion over 10 years, and New Yorkers as much as $52 billion.
Not surprisingly, many states balked and now the high court has agreed: Congress cant strip all Medicaid funds from states that refuse the expansion, as the ObamaCare law threatened.

The point of the Chief Justice’s decision was to allow or perhaps force the legislators to revisit the disaster of a law and either revise it to acceptability by voters or toss it and start all over again.
It was not his job nor his duty to do either. It is the duty of the voters, the people, to provide a congress up to the task and willing to do the job. In the meantime, there is limbo..... Limbo is not really all that bad.
It must have been too big a stretch, even for Roberts, to interpret the state mandate as a tax.
This medicade issue is going to collapse the states.
FUBO ! ! ! !
FUBO !!!!!!!
The Red/Blue Cold War is just starting, the Reds (the good guys) are opting out of Obamataxcare.
The Blues have yet to launch any salvo, rumors are circulating they are instead building their version of Berlin type of walls to keep the workers from fleeing to the Red states and freedom.
I don’t know if you coined the word “Obamataxcare” but I hope it sticks. This sums the whole mess up nicely.
To be honest I think I was the original poster using that wordage, really.
I started that this weekend, and soon after it caught on, but my ego needs no credit if I was the originator, instead I wish it to be free and to be used by any or all.
This column is the clearest and comprehensive summary I have read so far. Thanks.
If true, the States still have ways to flip off Hussein and our rat oppressors.
ThugCare is going to destroy this nation.
Since there is not enough motels rooms in this country to accommodate everyone there would be a massive building boom in motels to accommodate everyone, thus reducing the unemployment rate.
Since you wouldn't have to stay in the motel, just rent the room, there would be a huge number of empty motels.
Continue with these type of mandates to force spending, you could end up with entire cities being built that are virtually vacant.
Just like the vacant cities in China.
Just a thought, but is it possible this is the idea behind the govt and it's forced purchased of goods and services?
Bump
I just keep telling my facebook idiots
16,000 new IRS Agents

ANY QUESTIONS?
.......medicade ......
Good one.
However in this case, it seems most are not consuming the sweet purple colored concoction, especially the 26 governors of states that now have a court ruling for not going along.
