(CNSNews.com) There is no better place than church to talk about political issues because they are ultimately moral issues, First Lady Michelle Obama told a church gathering on Thursday.
To anyone who says that church is no place to talk about these issues, you tell them there is no place better no place better, Obama told the African Methodist Episcopal Churchs 49th general conference, held in in Nashville, Tenn.
Because ultimately, these are not just political issues they are moral issues, she said. Theyre issues that have to do with human dignity and human potential, and the future we want for our kids and our grandkids.

Good for me.... but not for thee
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
“So what if it’s illegal and you LOSE YOUR TAX EXEMPT STATUS if you do”
“Oh, and send us $3 each and your wedding gifts”
This Catholic says “Damn right Mrs. Obama.”
OK Michelle. Game on.
What would she know about morality in churches? She does not share in the idea of value.
(1) Are they only religious closer to elections?
(2) How often is it necessary for them to remind us that they’re black?
(3) Why not run on their record vs. their color?
That must explain the Rat Party’s dream of revoking the Catholic Church’s tax exempt status.
OK so let’s talk about abortion, traditional marriage and school choice, right?
It’s all about the LOVE GIFTS!
Praise the Obamalord and pass the donation basket.
Boy these Obamas even make Jan and Paul look like pikers.
What next, Holy White Hut water?
Thanks I needed that belly laugh.
His record is so bad there is no way in HELL he can run on his record.
That is why all he can do is talk about Bain capital and Mitt. He can't bring up his record, because his record SUCKS.
Get back on the Millennial Falcon, Chewbacca, and LEAVE!!!!
Telling us how to eat, live, etc. and her butt is big enough to have its own zip code.
“(1) Are they only religious closer to elections?”
The Democrats are.
“(2) How often is it necessary for them to remind us that theyre black?”
As long as it is necessary to lay a guilt trip on you.
“(3) Why not run on their record vs. their color?”
That would be unfair!!
I guess Obama and team have decided that pro-Democrat talk in Church is o.k. and the First Amendment doesn’t apply to them.
By the way. what is Mrs. Hussein Obama Barack doing in Christian Churches?
She believes that... unless it’s a Christian church.
And yet imagine the outcry if a GOP president (or candidate) sounded similar calls to action in front of Billy Graham’s congregation, or some other?
Yet she and her dopey husband didn’t take anything in political when they were sitting in Reverend Wright’s church?
And just how many times has Mizzz Obama been to church to actually worship the Almighty God during her occupancy at the White House and not for the ulterior purpose of schmoozing for votes on this or that particular political issue of the day? Probably could count the legitimate times on my left hand.
She should know that God will NOT be mocked!
Could you just imagine the outcry if there was a coordinated effort by our diocese’s (sp?) to have each priest or deacon speak out during the homily against Obamacare, it’s negative impact on the church and it’s hospitals? Imagine the outcry if the church decided to outright endorse a candidate who’s name was not Barck Hussein Obama?
The only thing worse than a dumb heifer is an arrogant, overweight, malproportioned dumb heifer.
I was at a LIONS meeting the Thursday after the 2004 election. One of the members, in violation of the Objects governing meetings questioned if allowing Evangelicals to vote violated the separation of church and state.
OK so lets talk about abortion, traditional marriage and school choice, right?
As well as including the persecution/cleansing of Christian and all non-Arab, non-Muslim minorities throughout the world as well as in what the first lady identified President Obama's home country, Kenya (video).
How does the Obama family know what goes on at church? They only went to listen to Rev. Wrlght’s racist rants so BO could get votes in Chicago and haven’t darkened the doorway since. I suppose that will change now that he’s running for re-election.
She’s right, but only because she knows the IRS will only go after churches that diagree with her. Is there the tiniest chance Rev. Wright’s church will ever be investigated by the IRS for political activity, or any other black church for that matter?
Subject of sermon at my wife’s church yesterday was:
Freedom is not free.
Given by the pastor who is a retired naval aviator.
Furthermore, to back up the message, for the recessional, the organist played the anthem from each of the armed services and vets were encouraged to stand while their’s was playing.
I think I need change churches.
How bizzare. Sounds like a cult.
10 to 1 they passed the hat for donations to Bambi’s campaign while she was there.
This so-called woman is a dangerous narcissistic nutcase. mooch-elle and her loser husband belong behind bars.
It’s the second oldest religion; it’s called “humanism”, and it began with the phrase “you will be as gods, knowing good and evil”.
The trouble is, she is talking about liberal redistributionist politics which has no moral biblical foundation. To the contrary, such constitutes “coveting” and is prohibited by the bible.
Because we know, from the New Testament, that all of the early Christian evangelists, like Paul, John, Peter, and James, spent most of their sermons focusing on their Roman oppressors, and Caligula, Claudius, and Nero...
When Paul wrote in his first letter to the Corinthians that he was determined to make known nothing onto them but Jesus Christ, and Him crucified, he was obviously speaking code that he would be devoting his preaching to how the Romans were wrong in their oppression and abuse of the poor and downtrodden. His focus was on the seen, and not the unseen. Because although the seen is temporal, and the unseen is eternal ... it was best to exult the temporal so we could have a 'good time' now...
These White House geniuses need to stop talking about things which they have no understanding (nor desire to understand)... Their Theology begins and ends with their belief that 'Theo' equals themselves.
Wasn’t there a commandment about not stealing?
As it pertains to the subject of the thread, I just read the latest book from Hilmar von Campe “Defeating the Totalitarian Lie”.
I will highly recommend everyone reading this book. I learned of it when someone posted a thread announcing the passing of the author. Being my mother still today will not talk about what she experienced being raised in Nazi Germany, this gave me a huge insight. But that is only the beginning of the book. He goes on to describe how the same things that caused the German population to be blind to the truth are in fact still going on today in our country. Most notable of his hated organizations is the ACLU.

Satan would be very clever to convert Christian churches into groups of a cult of personality, “liberation theology” rather than the Gospel, and have them embrace such anti-God ideas as destroying traditional marriage, promoting gay marriage and the termination of unborn humans.
Satan would be very clever to do so, indeed.
Now, if only he had a couple of mouthpieces to organize a community into doing such things....
Another Example of “It’s Okay when WE do it!”
[ So what if its illegal and you LOSE YOUR TAX EXEMPT STATUS if you do ]
The Tax Exempt status has become a “Harness of Tyranny” upon the churches because it infringes upon their 1st amendment rights.
I think the churches should revolt by becomming “For Profit” and “Loud and Proud”.
Right on Mooshelle-—did the ACLU and LSM leftist hacks get your memo? Agree with MO
I can’t speak to the timing, but my current and last church recognized our service men and women on Independence Day. I wholeheartedly approve. We have the freedom to worship because of our soldiers.
I wouldn’t go to a church that didn’t appreciate their service and sacrifice. It came home the other year when a friend lost her kid brother, a member of our church, to the war.
Your response to your church sounds like a leftists response.
[Jeffrey Folks column] . . . And one thing that liberals abhor above all is the profession of religion.
Perhaps this is why President Obama has been so coy about his faith. It is well known that he attended a United Church of Christ congregation in Chicago for a number of years, but he quit that church when its pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, became a political liability. Most Americans now have no idea what church Obama attends, and for good reason. At present, he belongs to none. Not only that, Obama's 2010 tax return indicates that he and Michelle, while they contributed $245,000 to various charities, donated nothing to any church. Not even one dollar in the collection plate.
That, according to liberals, is all to his credit. He contributed generously to women's shelters, food kitchens for the homeless, and black and Latino groups. But there is no mention of a contribution to a religious congregation or institution of any kind. That makes him a champion of the left, unlike the Romneys, who donated a total of $4.1 million over the past two years to their church in addition to nearly $3 million to other charities.
Seems to me the mainline denominations (plural)are already doing Satan’s bidding.
Sarge, in the pix of Obama walking through the water wearing a white shirt, are those roses around him? Looks to me like a scene in the Ohio River from the Indiana side looking toward Louisville during Kentucky Derby week. Can you confirm this? Thanks.
Ya know, now that I look deeply at the background, you are eerily right. It DOES look like the rail bridge on the Ohio.
[Christian Post story] . . . Mrs. Obama's comments may have something to do with the fact that the first family does not attend church on a regular basis. In author Ed Klein's new book, The Amateur, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, whose church the Obama's attended when they lived in Chicago, said the first family did not seem interested in attending church on a regular basis.
"These are not church people," Wright said of Barack and Michelle Obama. "As far as Michelle was concerned, that she was not brought up in the church, and as far as the couple themselves, the church is not very important to them."
I believe he was describing what happened at his wife's church and I inferred that he goes to a different church. I also thought he was saying that he liked what happened at his wife's church and needs to change churches from his to hers.
