It's a penalty. It's a penalty. It's a penalty. This is what White House officials are arguing despite Thursday's Supreme Court ruling on ObamaCare classifying the healthcare legislation as....a tax. Friday White House Press Secretary argued ObamaCare isn't a tax, but a penalty. Today, White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew argued the same thing. Remember, ObamaCare was "sold" or shoved down the throats of the American people as a penalty to avoid the Obama administration looking like President Obama was raising taxes on everyone.
The White House insisted Sunday the consequence for Americans not having health insurance is a penalty fee, despite the Supreme Court ruling that it is a tax and said the debate on the Affordable Care Act should finally end.
White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew said on Fox News Sunday that “when the Supreme Court rules” the country “has a final decision” and that the presidential campaigns should focus on the economy and jobs.
“What we need to do is go forward with the implementation” of the law, Lew said.WH Chief Of Staff Spends 5 Minutes Struggling To Explain How ObamaCare Isn't A Tax
It's a tax. To see the long list of new taxes that come with ObamaTax, click here.
They’re spinning so fast they should be dizzy by now.
Spin, spin, spin, drain, drain, bye-bye.
We now live in an era when the federal government can do whatever it wants and call it anything it wants to call it.
If it is not a tax then ObamaKare is not legal as defined by SCOTUS and can’t be implemented.
Case closed.
Obama Admin changes TAX to PENALTY , try fool the people by changing WORDS LOL
The whole Dem spin is it is a penalty for the middle class and a tip from the 1%.
Theyre spinning so fast they should be dizzy by now.
If you remember Nixon’s ‘wage and price freeze’, it wasn’t long before they had the same product, just new and improved so they could ‘raise’ the price, several ‘new’ cuts of meat were invented etc and if you wanted a raise all you had to do was ‘quit’ and get hired back to the same job for more money when rehired....
Yes, Nixon was probably the ‘original’ RINO but he was only the 2nd R in my lifetime, with Ike being the 1st.
Aw, if they didn’t want it to be law in the first place, they shouldn’t have passed it, yes?
My head hurts.
What would anyone whose sperm donor was a commie maggot from Kenya know about anything? If the Supreme Court says it’s a tax, IT’S A TAX.
Just say "NO" to the Oboma tax.
No new entitlement programs!
Just following the lead of Roberts in his opinion. First, it wasn’t a tax and then it was a tax.
The Washington spin machine is going to reverse the magnetic poles!
Obama is defying SCOTUS by calling it a penalty, they abhor it being labeled EXACTLY what it is...
A TAX
For the last few years, the White House and Congress had been telling us this was a penalty. At the same time, the White House lawyers were arguing to the Supreme Court (out of necessity) that it was a tax.
They’re trying to have it both ways, and should be called on it.
I’m not holding my breath.
And doesn’t every TAX bill have to originate in the House? IIRC, Obamacare DID NOT—and thus the passage of it was a usurpation of power by the Senate. This is a fact that MUST be trumpeted by the Pubs— loud and clear!
I have a question:
People with children get a per-child tax break. Those of us without children pay full tax.
So, is the White House saying that I’m paying an unwritten penalty for not having my own children?
Or is it that I’m just paying full tax and people with children are not assessed a penalty fee?
I’m......so confused. What the hell is going on, here?
“This is a fact that MUST be trumpeted by the Pubs loud and clear!”
I hate to mention this to you but the republican leadership helped pass the healthcare bill, and I mean the leadership in both houses.
The republicans WANTED this bill to pass just as much as the democrats.
Ya can’t have it be a tax to make it legal, but not a tax to not be a tax increase. I guess ol’ Obama just likes to have it both ways. Just saying.
Did they argue in court that it was a tax, to get it passed, or did Roberts just pull the tax thing out of his own hat? If they argued it was a tax, then this must be publicized to show the immenseness of their lying hypocrisy. Whether they argued it being a tax or not, they are still Constitutional abrogating menaces that deserve utter scorn and ridicule. It is these lying, Satanic, scumbags that must become abrogated.
Roberts has the authority to reconsider his decision. He should announce that he interpreted ObamaCare in the most understanding and flexible manner possible in an attempt to find that it was constitutional, but Pelosi, Obama, and many others who passed the bill so we could find out what was in the bill have corrected him, and he accepts their interpretation that ObamaCare is not a tax. Because ObamaCare is not a tax, the Court is reconsidering the question and he is joining in the Kennedy/Scalia/Thomas/Alito decision, which is now the majority decision - ObamaCare is overturned.
Sadly, I don’t think Roberts has either the courage or the patriotism necessary to follow that path.
People who own their own home have to pay school taxes, no matter how poor they are. People who live in apartments don't - even if they're millionaires with 20 kids in a government school.
Home owners are punished, too.
The politicians have discovered they could take other peoples money to buy votes with and get away with it, and then they can control the population through reward and punishment. We haven't been a free people since FDR.
If they want us to behave one way, they let us slaves keep one of our bricks as a reward for our obedience. If they don't want us to do something, and we're disobedient, they force us to make a few dozen extra bricks each day as punishment.
Roberts looks like bigger fool... Like a judge letting go a murderer only to have him show up TV saying, “Yep I lied. I killed em.”
Spread the word.
They sure did
I know a lot of people are still furious with Roberts for voting the way he did, but I am starting to believe this is even better than an outright win for our side.
Watching these Liberal cretins spin this way, then the other, and trying to reconcile their “win” with the hard political reality of this monstrosity is proving to be quite amusing.
This decision is not going to help the Demoncraps in November.
Even if it is a Penalty, what right does the Government have to fine me for not buying something I do not want.
If it is a Penalty it is Unconstitutional.
Roberts was right about that, he was wrong to let it go by and wrong to change it’s motive.
Roberts said it was not a tax for purposes of the Anti-Injunction Act and then later said it was a tax after his comments about the commerce clause.
The reduced tax paid by parents is an "Investment" by the gov't to pay for your SS on the out years.
While I am still recovering from the stab-in-back injury inflicted by the Dread Pirate Roberts, I am immensely enjoying this maelstrom (SCOTUS upheld us; but it’s not a tax; but SCOTUS said it *is* a tax; well you can’t listen to SCOTUS; etc.) that the Democrats have found themselves in — and which, apparently, they can’t escape from.
Pssst! Hey, buddy, you want to buy a bridge?
Sounds retarded.
All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; butt he Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.
Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatibes and the Senate, shall, before it becomes a Law, be presented to the President of the United States: If he approve he shall sign it.
He signed it, didn't he?
The liberal justices ruled it’s a tax.
They also ruled it would be unconstitutional under the commerce clause.
ObamaCareTax
The SC ruled that it must be a tax for the law to stand.
The SC did NOT rule on whether or not the tax is constitutional. That question was outside the scope of the case.
That leaves the states the opening to file a law suit regarding the constitutionality of the tax (it is not constitutional).
The Obama admin doesn’t want to call it a tax because of politics/the election.
I’ll be looking for WI, FL, or some other rational state to file a law suit.
This juxtaposition of words and meanings is some thing government officials have been allowed to do to force actions they want on ordinary citizens. One of agencies that has used this deceptive practice over and over is the EPA. Just take a look at and examine the clever double speak it uses.
and with all those IRS agents coming on board, newly armed with billy clubs and brass knuckles........
Remember the story of Daniel in the Lion's den? I see this argument in much the same way only in Daniel's case, it was well known that he actively prayed to and worshiped God on a regular basis. The king's wise men hated Daniel and wanted to find a way to be done with him so they drafted a law that stated it would be a capital offense to worship anyone or thing besides the King. They got the king to sign the bill, then presented their case to the king that Daniel must pay the penalty. It was a ruse and the king fell for it, without thinking.
Two points here; One is the fact that a ruse has been perpetrated on the American people; for Obama and the then Democrat controlled congress argued that the penalty was not a tax... but of course now it is a tax. Two, even if it can be construed as a penalty, what gives congress the power to write such a law that penalizes someone for continuing to live the way they have been living their whole lives? What powers don't they have if Obamacare stands?
I’m so glad that they’re making Roberts look like the fool he is. He deserves it big time. No man has been in the perfect position to protect the Constitution like Robert is, and failed so horribly to not only protect it, but also blow it to smithereens with this new right the government now has of taxing us for NOT doing something!
I think a lot more people are paying attention to this ruling than paid attention to the original debate and house vote. And they don’t like what they’re seeing. Nobody can afford a tax increase. Many are worried about being able to afford to buy groceries. obama’s peeps would be better off keeping their mouths shut.
If It’s a penalty it is unconstitutional. Every time Obama and his minions say it is not a tax, our response needs to be “then it is unconstitutional. Period. It has been deemed to be legal ONLY as a tax.
And good ole Ike was asked by BOTH parties to run. And, thanks to this colossus, we got the Warren Court and countless Rhinos.
I think the best way to get the liberals on our side is to show them the danger of this new Supreme Court precedent of allowing the Government the power to tax us for NOT doing something. When Republicans get in power, I hope they tax movies that are R rated and above, X rated, tax people who DON’T have a bible at home, etc. Just proposing such laws will bring the point home.
The GOP’s avoiding this point assiduously. What are we missing?

It would appear that Roberts and the other four were trying to do a Solomon twist. The onerous aspect of their decision is that they gave the baby/decision to the wrong parent i.e. to Obama and his enablers instead of the people of the USA. As far as Roberts as an individual judge goes he can now be known as Judas Roberts instead of Justice Roberts.
My nephew suggested taxing abortions. I thought that that was brilliant.
