White House Doubles Down: ObamaTax Not a Tax (Title should be: White House Spins)
Townhall.com ^ | July 1, 2012 | Katie Pavlich

It's a penalty. It's a penalty. It's a penalty. This is what White House officials are arguing despite Thursday's Supreme Court ruling on ObamaCare classifying the healthcare legislation as....a tax. Friday White House Press Secretary argued ObamaCare isn't a tax, but a penalty. Today, White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew argued the same thing. Remember, ObamaCare was "sold" or shoved down the throats of the American people as a penalty to avoid the Obama administration looking like President Obama was raising taxes on everyone.

The White House insisted Sunday the consequence for Americans not having health insurance is a penalty fee, despite the Supreme Court ruling that it is a tax and said the debate on the Affordable Care Act should finally end.

White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew said on Fox News Sunday that “when the Supreme Court rules” the country “has a final decision” and that the presidential campaigns should focus on the economy and jobs.

“What we need to do is go forward with the implementation” of the law, Lew said.

Did they argue in court that it was a tax, to get it passed, or did Roberts just pull the tax thing out of his own hat? If they argued it was a tax, then this must be publicized to show the immenseness of their lying hypocrisy. Whether they argued it being a tax or not, they are still Constitutional abrogating menaces that deserve utter scorn and ridicule. It is these lying, Satanic, scumbags that must become abrogated.

Roberts has the authority to reconsider his decision. He should announce that he interpreted ObamaCare in the most understanding and flexible manner possible in an attempt to find that it was constitutional, but Pelosi, Obama, and many others who passed the bill so we could find out what was in the bill have corrected him, and he accepts their interpretation that ObamaCare is not a tax. Because ObamaCare is not a tax, the Court is reconsidering the question and he is joining in the Kennedy/Scalia/Thomas/Alito decision, which is now the majority decision - ObamaCare is overturned.

Sadly, I don’t think Roberts has either the courage or the patriotism necessary to follow that path.

People with children get a per-child tax break. Those of us without children pay full tax.

People who own their own home have to pay school taxes, no matter how poor they are. People who live in apartments don't - even if they're millionaires with 20 kids in a government school.
Home owners are punished, too.

The politicians have discovered they could take other peoples money to buy votes with and get away with it, and then they can control the population through reward and punishment. We haven't been a free people since FDR.

If they want us to behave one way, they let us slaves keep one of our bricks as a reward for our obedience. If they don't want us to do something, and we're disobedient, they force us to make a few dozen extra bricks each day as punishment.

Roberts looks like bigger fool... Like a judge letting go a murderer only to have him show up TV saying, “Yep I lied. I killed em.”

If it's not a tax, they why are they going to hire 16,000 new Internal Revenue Service Agents?

I don't think Roberts said it was not a tax. That arrogant pos occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania first said it was a tax then he spins it that it wasn't when in realty it is and he can spin it whichever way he wants to. It will not change

I know a lot of people are still furious with Roberts for voting the way he did, but I am starting to believe this is even better than an outright win for our side.

Watching these Liberal cretins spin this way, then the other, and trying to reconcile their “win” with the hard political reality of this monstrosity is proving to be quite amusing.

This decision is not going to help the Demoncraps in November.

Even if it is a Penalty, what right does the Government have to fine me for not buying something I do not want.

If it is a Penalty it is Unconstitutional.

Roberts was right about that, he was wrong to let it go by and wrong to change it’s motive.

Roberts said it was not a tax for purposes of the Anti-Injunction Act and then later said it was a tax after his comments about the commerce clause.

While I am still recovering from the stab-in-back injury inflicted by the Dread Pirate Roberts, I am immensely enjoying this maelstrom (SCOTUS upheld us; but it’s not a tax; but SCOTUS said it *is* a tax; well you can’t listen to SCOTUS; etc.) that the Democrats have found themselves in — and which, apparently, they can’t escape from.

From Article 1 Section 7

All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; butt he Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.

Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatibes and the Senate, shall, before it becomes a Law, be presented to the President of the United States: If he approve he shall sign it.

He signed it, didn't he?

The liberal justices ruled it’s a tax.

They also ruled it would be unconstitutional under the commerce clause.

The SC ruled that it must be a tax for the law to stand.

The SC did NOT rule on whether or not the tax is constitutional. That question was outside the scope of the case.

That leaves the states the opening to file a law suit regarding the constitutionality of the tax (it is not constitutional).

The Obama admin doesn’t want to call it a tax because of politics/the election.

I’ll be looking for WI, FL, or some other rational state to file a law suit.

This juxtaposition of words and meanings is some thing government officials have been allowed to do to force actions they want on ordinary citizens. One of agencies that has used this deceptive practice over and over is the EPA. Just take a look at and examine the clever double speak it uses.
