I'm a Tea Party Nose Holder

(Sketch of the Supreme Court justices hearing the health care reform case in March by Bill Hennessy.)

By Mr. Curmudgeon

Recently, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Congress has the power to do just about anything it desires provided it's called a tax. It's hard not to notice that the Progressive march toward totalitarianism in America has a decidedly bipartisan feel. Chief Justice John Roberts, who wrote the high court's majority opinion, is an appointee of "compassionate conservative" George W. Bush.

This ruling positions the Tea Party as the only alternative to our broken two-party system.

At the center of the controversy, stands the individual mandate, which orders every American to participate in government-run health care or face fines or imprisonment.

I know this is an election year, and most Americans are used to pretending that presidential elections highlight the "stark contrasts between the two parties," but the Supreme Court's ObamaCare ruling and the histories of both presidential candidates belay that tired fantasy.

The presidential contest pits the father of the individual mandate against his protege. The father, of course, is Mitt Romney. The Republican faithful counter that Romney and congressional establishment Republicans have pledged to "repeal and replace" Obama and Pelosi's dictatorial abomination. It's the "replace" part of the equation that should give us pause.

That said, I intend to hold my nose and vote for Romney for one reason and one reason only: The Supreme Courts' health care ruling serves as a recruiting tool, adding more Americans to the Tea Party army. If, as in the midterm elections of 2010, Tea Party candidates head to Washington, the Progressive wing of the Republican Party will be hard pressed to ignore their power.

If the high court says Congress has unlimited power to bleed taxpayers dry, the acronym "Taxed-Enough-Already" takes on greater meaning and urgency.

The Tea Party must intensify its crusade to repeal the tenure of big-government politicians in both parties and replace them with small-government constitutionalists.

That means a greater Tea Party presence in the House and Senate, and that requires a re-doubling of Tea Party efforts to overthrow the Progressive wing of the GOP.

I can only imagine the miserable little life you lead.

Your solution was a new constitution!

Insane, and sad, what a tragic way to live.

Actually, the Original Constitution works well.

The Problem with Obama and Romney is NEITHER cares

GOVERNOR Ronald Reagan signed the first abortion bill in the US, years before Roe v. Wade was prmulgated on the nation. Later he said that it was the biggest mistake of his life. The nation forgave him and elected him President and he has generally been regarded as anti-abortion.

GOVERNOR Romney has said that Romneycare did not turn out like he expected, and he doesn’t approve of Obamacare and would take steps to repeal it the first day in office, if elected. Furthermore, he would grant waivers to all 50 states, immediately after being sworn in.

Don’t you believe that a man can change his mind?

Just what the Ache Eeee Doubble Hockeysticks do you think Obama is going to do to this nation if re-elected in November? What purpose does it serve to give him another 4 years of destruction?

No. The alternate reality is the one where the choice is binary. In this election (as in most), there are myriad choices.

Nor this house and its looking increasingly unlikely in my mothers house and my neighbors house. People are figuring out that the white house isn’t all that important if you get a house and senate with the courage to do the right thing.

Unfortunately, Myth Romney, partner of Soros,
is working to DECREASE TURNOUT through his
backstabbing and cheating. It will work.
The Senate AND House will be lost if LOSER ROMNEY
is on the ticket.

... unless, of course, re-elected President Obama acts as A. Hitler did and simply closes down the legislative branch.

I realize that sounds somewhat nutty, but he has already done things which were extra-constitutional and no one in either house of the Congress said a word. Why should we not expect him to complete his dictatorial take-over if he is re-elected?

Just asking.....

Hitler had a largely complicit legislature and was himself only elected to a minor office and gained more power through parliamentary manipulations.

Precisely. Obama may have been elected to a higher office than Hitler had been, but he has certainly "gained more power through parliamentary manipulations."

I just don't know how a new House and Senate will stop him if those newly-elected people aren't willing to step forward and LEAD, and/or if we-the-people aren't willing to put everything on the line to save our republic.

IMO, this is a really scary and critical time for the future existence of the USA as we used to know it.

Depending on which state you live in, the individual choice between Romney and 0bama may be real, but the individual choice is swamped. if you live in NY or CA, vote for whoever you want, 0bama is taking those Electoral College votes.
