Ann Curry bashed by NBC News president Steve Capus (the guy who hired Chelsea Clinton...)

She was weak on cooking segments, celebrity interviews

It was just another day of salt in the wounds for Curry, who soldiered through a tearful on-air goodbye last week that many described as a public execution

Ann evidently didn’t curry any favor with the president of NBC News — who bashed her performance on the “Today” show, saying she was weak on cooking segments and celebrity interviews.

“We gave her a year to prove herself, and ultimately we came to the conclusion that she had played at the highest level she could,” Steve Capus told the Hollywood Reporter. “When you’re in the major leagues of our profession, you’ve got to continue to be at peak performance in order to stay there.”

Capus said Curry’s failures on the light segments that make up the bulk of the show sealed her fate. In his blunt assessment, he went on to say that the television veteran’s heart just wasn’t in it.

Because its THAT, that is the important news we all want to know.

Fox and Friends has fallen into the same category as the other liberal media with their friggin cooking shows and celebrity interviews. It has turned to crap.

I liked Ann.
She was only doing what was demanded of her in falling in with Liberals- whether she believed that bunk or not.
They ought to get rid of that serial adulterer, Lauer.
I despise that little weasel.

The body language between her and Lauer, from what little I saw, indicated to me that Lauer didn’t care for her.

Maybe I’m wrong. I agree, I don’t like Matt Lauer either.

But I suspect she didn’t fit with all that show was about.

I was in the community room of an apartment building and NBC News was on in the background. The last report of the night was from Chelsea Clinton, so I sort of listented to it while I did the work I was doing. She was high school-awful! Wooden delivery, no passion or real inflection in her voice and a just-the-facts-ma’am story. It was terrible. It was the kind of report one would expect from a TV station that was 150th in the market, not number 1.

"...Curry’s failures on the light segments that make up the bulk of the show"

In other words...she couldn't do the dumb stuff that the dumb-down audience can handle. No wonder those who watch NBC or the other alphabet stations have no clue about the truth of what is happening in the world. There is no real investigative journalism on their "news" shows...they are fed more information about how to make souffles, craft household trinkets, and who is sleeping with whom in Hollyweird. Real news reporting probably gets fewer bucks to investigate and is relegated to the short segments, hence there is no in-depth analysis, only surface mention. Anyway, when the real news comes on that's when most of their watchers probably leave the room. Liberals are not interested in the truth...it interferes with their enjoyment of simple topics.

I read in many reliable sources that it was Lauer who wanted to get rid of Ann.
Also, that his wife threatened to divorce him if he recommended Natalie Morales (with whom he had an affair)
as a co-anchor.

As much as I hate to agree with this schmuck, Ann Curry has always been a “B” lister, a Farm Team athlete, an also ran, never to win, just place or show for Ann.

She seemed “nice”, but an amateur. The job (such as it was) was too big for her. She never should have brought up in the first place, now it's back to the minors where she always belonged.

The show is so liberal and fake only long-time viewers who drank the koolaid don’t puke while watching it.

As Curry got more air time, she put her liberalness blatantly on display to a point of perhaps even the koolaid drinkers were puking.

I’m sure the show struggles to increase ratings, since it’s only not disgustingly liberal to long-time watchers.

I’d bet the people on the show are catty since they’re all over-the-top liberals, I’d bet when bad numbers come in they all start sniping at each other to blame each other and protect their own jobs.

I’d bet that Curry had enough negative feedback about being over-the-top liberal that management and Lauer had the opportunity to user her as a scapegoate. But they can’t blame her for being an over-the-top liberal since that’s what the show and the network are all about, so they have to cast their charges as something unique to Curry instead of too many people getting sick on her style of over-the-topness.

Over-the-top liberals come in two flavors:

a) Those who makes tons of money at being just that. Say 25 million.

b) Those who make diddly.

The type a ott liberals sometimes have talked bull for so long they believe their own sales pitch. Most of the type a’s, however, know that they don’t believe liberalism is good or works at all, they’re just making money off the liberal “cause”. Some type a’s are conflicted. They simply aren’t smart enough to figure out much of anything correctly, they keep hoping liberalism will work, they keep trying to reinterpret history, blame the evil capitalist, etc., all they while they collect their fat paychecks which their little brain sometimes is troubled with for a second or two, but they cling to their own paycheck and wealth even more so than an “evil capitalist”.

IMHO.

Ann Curry is 55. I have a sneaking suspicion they dumped her to replace with the younger, bouncier female type.
To be honest I didn’t even know who she was until all this hubaloo about her departure. She will not be unemployed for very long so no tears from me. Let Obamascam extort her taxes like the rest of us.

No. You're not.

Real reporting on television news shows was doomed the minute they began being included in the Nielsen ratings. From that point on, it was more about chasing viewers than gathering news.

Yeah, well, you’re a no-class jackass, Capus, to have her go on the air and humiliate herself in announcing her own firing. When you fire someone, the polite thing to do is allow them a quiet exit, immediately.

She was a team player and a professional, when by rights she should have told you to go to hell.

But then her firing was a well-known fait accompli and you wanted the “tearful goodbye” ratings spike.

No-class. Jackass. Like his boy, Matt Lauer.

And BTW Matt? The buzzcut fools no one. You’ll be bald in a year. Let’s see if Capus keeps YOU on when the ratings keep dropping because no one wants to look at a misshapen skull in the morning.
