Skip to comments.McConnell to Newsmax: Obama Using 'Nixonian' Tactics to Scare Off GOP Donors

An IRS probe into pro-Republican groups to determine whether they are violating their tax-exempt status by spending too much on partisan activities is a Nixonian move by a reckless and ruthless administration, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell tells Newsmax.TV.
McConnell was commenting on recent revelations that the IRS was looking into the 501(c)4 organizations. The groups, such as the Karl Rove-affiliated group Crossroads GPS, are tax-exempt because they are considered social welfare groups. The status allows them to keep donor lists private but the groups must limit their spending to issue ads designed to educate the public.
Critics charge the groups have crossed the line with their ads and they should be forced to disclose donors like Super PACS.
Well its more of the same, McConnell said of the IRS probe, claiming the Obama administration is also using the Federal Communications Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission to go after its political adversaries.
"Its very Nixonian, reminiscent of the Nixon years where there was an enemies list at the White House. This is a reckless and ruthless administration that will do anything to quiet the voices of its opponents.

It sounds like the IRS is Barry’s private army that he told us about. Uncle Adolf called it the gestapo.
What next? Snappy uniforms?
Could it be Mitch has finally decided to grow some cojones? Why has it taken him so long?
What’s next? Ask “drinkingwithbob” on utube. What’s next is probably requiring us all to wear Mao suits.
Too bad they didn’t or would recognize what or who this guy Obama was. Seems like they all made excuses for him from the get go.
Cry moar, noob!
Whatcha gonna do about it beside complain to newsmax?
Newsmax ought to be complaining to you, you are the damn government after all.
You are out of time, you slack jawed little sissy.
You had best pull an ace out of your sleeve, or America is ****ing done, Little Mitch, if it’s not already done.
Musta been that SCOTUS ruling on Obamacare and how it might affect his party’s chances in November, or something. Issues are secondary as always with GOPe types . . .
How about Bath-House Barry raising campaign funds from foreign lands?
(would someone please purchase a chin for McConnell? He has always looked like a scared turtle.)
Welcome to the party Mitch! Obama is a crook? Gee what a surprise.
And yet no one will do one blessed thing to stop him.
Could it be Mitch has finally decided to grow some cojones?
Sorry, balls are just part of the package. He needs a SPINE from which to hang them! Alas . . .!
The MSM was all over Nixon when they thought he was doing this. I guess since it’s not THEIR ox being gored this time, they can’t be bothered.
BROKAW: No, I don't, either.
ROSE: I don't know how he really sees where China is.
BROKAW: We don't know a lot about Barack Obama and the universe of his thinking about foreign policy.
ROSE: I don't really know. And do we know anything about the people who are advising him?
BROKAW: Yeah, it's an interesting question.
ROSE: He is principally known through his autobiography and through very aspirational (sic) speeches.
BROKAW: Two of them! I don't know what books he's read.
ROSE: What do we know about the heroes of Barack Obama?
BROKAW: There's a lot about him we don't know.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Meanwhile, Obama is busy collecting millions from foreign enemies for his campaign. Just like 2008. I see a certain inequity here.
Except Nixon never did this.
Is it possible that Mitch van Winkle has awakened from his slumber? Nah... Bob
