Beck on the ObamaCare ruling: I sure am tired of prominent Republicans selling out conservatives
HotAir ^ | Thursday June 28, 2012

Posted on 06/28/2012 10:07:19 PM PDT by Bigtigermike

A sentiment widely shared today, no doubt. Over at Ace’s place, DrewM issues a warning:

Dear GOP,

This is your last chance. If you blow this, I’m out and you need to be destroyed.

What is it? Repeal ObamaCare on Day 1. Don’t worry about replace, don’t worry about anything else…

[A]s soon as Mitt takes the oath of office, before his speech no one will care or remember, walk the bill up to him at the podium to sign.

If this does not happen, the GOP must be destroyed and a new party built to replace it. We’ve tried the carrot approach (votes, money, volunteers) to change your behavior. Now it’s time to show you the stick.

[...]

David Frum counters: If you think the GOP’s going to repeal ObamaCare now, you’re kidding yourselves.

"[E]ven if Republicans do win the White House and Senate in 2012, how much appetite will they then have for that 1-page repeal bill? Suddenly it will be their town halls filled with outraged senior citizens whose benefits are threatened; their incumbencies that will be threatened. Already we are hearing that some Republicans wish to retain the more popular elements of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Which means the proposed 1-page bill will begin to grow…

Republicans will find the task of writing their “replace” law even more agonizing than the Democrats found original passage. The party has no internal consensus on what a replacement would look like. Worse, any replacement of the law’s popular elements will require financing. But where is that money to come from? New taxes are unacceptable. The proceeds of “closing loopholes” are already spoken for—that’s how President Romney has promised to finance his promise to cut the top rate of tax 28%. And he’s also promised to increase defense spending…"

[....]

That’s all fine, but Drew’s captured the mood of the base well in his post, I think. If the GOP ends up with the numbers to repeal O-Care, it’d be a catastrophic, possibly politically fatal betrayal at this point for them not to follow through. The fact that it was Roberts who swung to the left in today’s decision rather than the mercurial Kennedy only compounds conservatives’ trauma: At this point, a la Beck, it really does feel like there’s no one in a position of power who can be trusted. The last Republican president ran up big deficits and expanded health-care entitlements; the Republican chief justice he appointed just voted to uphold ObamaCare; and the current Republican nominee pioneered the concept of health-care mandates in Massachusetts. If a Republican-controlled Congress rubber-stamps Obama’s health-care leviathan by refusing to act on it, I don’t know what happens to turnout in 2014 and 2016. Good news for the No Labels crowd, I guess — that’ll be the closest America’s come yet to seeing a true third party develop. Democrats on the left, conservatives on the right, and the no-labels rump of the GOP smack dab in the center. They might as well take their chances with angry seniors at those townhalls; you might win them back eventually, but you won’t win back righties who’ve suffered one too many sellouts.

I miss Glenn Beck on FNC. He kicks butts, that is why he was shoved off.

Agree with Beck on this one, there is always 1 Supreme Court Justice that sells out to the leftists to give them these kinds of wild ass rulings.

That is their day one. Basically their Zero Hour.

If it is not completely erased, no matter how many idiot geezers complain, then goodbye. If the NDP and the LibDems could go from goofy 3rd party also-rans to official opposition, then we have no excuses here.

I posted this on the michaelsavage thread but I am so disgusted with all of these talk show ‘hosts’ I wanted to post it here as well.

abandon hope all ye who enter here and romney won’t win?

savage is a total downer

that woman who called today was crying and savage said NOTHING to console her

I have been suspicious of him for a long time-he is an opportunist preying on the scared conservative public

heck all these talk show ‘hosts’ are preying on your fear - and asking you to buy lifelock and blinds and flowers,

follow the money- watch a face in the crowd-it applies to talk show hosts as well as obama and the liberals, george soros may have sent it to beck but it is also an example of msnbc, the huffington post and moveon.org

If the GOP take the presidency, the House and the Senate conservative causes will be the last things on their minds.

Good news bad news for Roberts?

On one hand Chief Justice Roberts just earned himself some
plum commencement address offers for next Spring. That is
something conservative justices never get. The downside is
that if the BO man doesn’t get re-elelcted and Obumblecare
goes up in smoke then the universities will forget all about
Roberts.

Republicans, democrats, doesn’t matter anymore. They all fall under the category of greedy politician now. Both parties are equally guilty of siding with the moneychangers, and 300 million plus people are stuck in the middle of their power struggle, and are merely pawns in a quest for more control.

Effective after midnight December 31st, Obamacare, will be intact and remains so until which time our illustrious congress will muster any of their soon to be exhausted interest (once they are re-elected and newly elected) to persue some changes here and there in the thing, while Romney the socialist will triangulate from the White House, in the manner of Obama, letting congress take all the shots and the risks.

That is, IF, Romney wins, and IF Republisocaialists take the senate, and IF the less socialist Republicans hold the House of Representatives, and IF China does not call in our debt.

My comment at the hotair article:
“If this does not happen, the GOP must be destroyed and a new party built to replace it.”
Love the idea. I think we all can agree that “Republican” is a tarnished brand, with a country club reputation, not Joe the Plumber.
Just dumping the Republican name will win us several points in the polls. But there’s more. It’s time we cater to Joe the Plumber, and the country clubbers and most of the old authoritarian guard will come along.
What does Joe the Plumber want? Ask him. That’s the replacement party we need to create. I know that Joe doesn’t like the antiquated cr@p that the old guard still finds a rationale for supporting. Joe pretty much is going to talk like John Stossel, I think. That’s where the new majority is going to be found; that’s what is going to explode the left – right paradigm as it currently exists.

Yeah but the good news is that McCaine and Sarah didn’t win.

It would have been much worse in the US today had they won.

The DNC thanks you for your purity.

you hadn't figured it out before now?...of course all the talking conservative heads are in for self promotion...big money..

if everything was swell, we wouldn't listen, now would we?...

exception of course is Rush..yes he sells stuff...but he's not writing books every other month or having rallies or shows to pay for and come too...

I trust him more than the others...Sean is trustworthy too I guess...at least he's consistant...

but Beck and Savage....they'll have us twist in the wind rather than actually do something constructive or talk constructively...THEY TALK IN CIRCLES...

Savage did this with Bush and McCain...and Beck never did endorse or encourage us to vote McCain...sure, its hard to do....and against bamey boy...

You’re gonna burn some egos with that post.

The GOP mantra for 2012 should be: “Suck it up and vote.”

Beck is horrible at strategy.

Name the Republicans who voted in favor of Obamacare?

Why would anyone want Beck on their side, since he enjoys shooting Republicans in the back, frequently.

Beck is a loose cannon, often shooting in the wrong direction.
