To keep Obama from rushing through an appointment at the last hour that would clearly be seen as political by a majority of the US public? OF COURSE THEY WOULD!!

Liljenquist translation: = WEAK LIGHTWEIGHT

Yup. I sure didn't see Liljenquist at the last Tea Party Express rally. I met Senator Hatch and Governor Herbert there though, and was impressed with their understanding and support of the movement. We'll hope that continues...

speaking of McCain—is he doing anything to help Gov. Brewer with the illegal intrusions in any way?

I don’t recall any stories. Has he gone a complete rat butt-kisser?

That might actually have the makings of a reasonable political compromise. Ginsberg agrees to retire and do something productive in her remaining years like playing bingo in a retirement home. In return, the Romney administration agrees to nominate a short termer like O.G. Hatch.

I haven't heard much either, but I suspect that whatever he is doing, it is akin to aiding and abetting the pro-illegals.

“Dan Liljenquist was a weak candidate with not as much money as Senator Hatch, and his claims to be a member of the TEA Party were, also, in question, with, as an example, his comments about having tax increases being possible solutions to some of the country’s economic problems. Still, I would of voted for Dan, despite all of these things, if I was a Utah voter, because Senator Hatch has been a U.S. Senator for way too long.”

If Dan was for tax increases even before he lost the fire in his belly, just imagine what he’d be like in a few years.

Hatch also carried the water for Eric Holder’s confirmation as Attorney General. How’s that working out? I guess Republican voters just keep voting for what they don’t want. They said they didn’t want Obamacare, but voted to nominate Romneycare; they said they didn’t want amnesty, but nominated John McAmnesty in ‘08. Holder is in contempt of Congress; let’s vote his enabler back in.

This is why the country is in the shape it is in. Dumb bi-polar voters; both Reps. and Dems.

[ Well I guess we can’t nail all of their skins to the wall.....]

From what I heard/read about his primary challenger from the “Tea Party” he wasn’t really a Tea Party candidate as he wanted to raise taxes and call them “Revenue Enhancers”

So it was a choice between someone claiming to be a Tea partier who was actually a RINO and a RINO everyone knows to be a RINO. I would rather deal with a known RINO than someone who would claim to be a Tea Partier who would stab the Tea Party in their Ideals behind all our backs.

Sadly this should be a wake up call for the Utah Tea Party to get an actual conservative to run against Hatch this next cycle. Becasue it felt like this choice:

Turd Sandwich vs. Turd Sandwich

Ginsberg was 60 when she was appointed 19 years ago (1993), she is only one year older than Hatch.

No one is going to appoint Hatch to the court at his age.

Yes. It’s very possible that the “more conservative” candidate won, and that this was, actually, a race between two RINOS.

Liljenquist is just too difficult a name for the people of UT to understand. They will stick with their hatch.

Bambozzling people in almost any state is really simple. UT is no surpise here.

That’s too bad. I hope the primary challenger put a scare into hatch though and he changes some of his ways.

Why would it? As with many other Republicans, including the current Presidential nominee, he has already shown that he can win even in the face of opposition by conservatives and Tea Partiers. What incentive does Hatch have to "change his ways" when he's virtually assured another six years in the Senate (after all, we have to rally 'round the RINO now to keep the Dem from winning, right)?

In six years I'll be as old as the codger Hatch. BTW daughter Em is the campaign manager for Scott Howell his opponent, a former IBM exec who is more conservative than Hatch.

Utah Democrats are the same breed as California Repubs. Seems that I remember a Romneybot lives in Santa Cruz.

BTW Maynard Dixon paid a visit today

“Hatch was never as bad as McCain. He’s a genuinely nice guy who just lost his fire in the belly. Maybe the primary scare helped him rediscover it.”

That’s precisely what happened. Hatch was smart enough to see the writing on the wall, get conservative, and get back to basics... one hopes it wasnt a preelection fake. He’s got 6 more years now.
