Living in the new abnormal because of climate change
The Aspen Times (CO) ^ | June 24, 2012 | by Scott Condon

ASPEN — Living in a world where the population is topping 7 billion and temperatures are rising is going to be anything but normal.

A panel Saturday morning at the opening session of the Aspen Environment Forum painted an often bleak picture of how climate change is altering the world and how humans are dealing with the challenges.

The annual conference, presented by the Aspen Institute and National Geographic, is titled “Living in the New Normal” this year. The opening discussion carried the same name, but it soon became evident that there is no new normal.

“We're living in a new abnormal, perhaps,” said Dennis Dimick, National Geographic magazine's executive editor for the environment. He showed detailed graphic displays that demonstrate how global temperatures have increased 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit since the 1970s. Projections indicate that summers in 2040 to 2060 will be “warmer than the warmest on record,” he said.

Go ahead and throw weather records out the window, agreed Kevin Trenberth, senior scientist with the National Center for Atmospheric Research. The atmospheric conditions are changing to the point where “every weather event is different than it would have been,” Trenberth said. “We keep changing the climate so there is no new normal.”

Perhaps they might eventually get around to admitting that nothing is normal....never was....never will be, and it might rain on Tuesday....maybe...if not, then Wednesday.

Give us access to all our clean burning coal, oil and natural gas and we can air condition the planet.

Why all the doom and gloom? If the weather is really getting warmer, growing seasons will lengthen and the permafrost belt will shrink, opening up more arable land.

The earth’s climate has been changing continuously for billions of years. On that basis, what defines “normal”?

The climate is changing, but I don’t think humans are causing it. Where I live (Michigan), it’s vastly different from when I was a kid. Summers and winters are a lot warmer. Next to nothing snow in the winter anymore. Not even cold enough to freeze pipes, so people aren’t worried about pipes freezing anymore without a cover of snow. And drought is the new normal.

Eco-fascism is a cult made up of savages whose members are incapable of rational thought. They continue to carry out one of Hitler’s most infamous dictates: Think in blood, meaning rid yourself of rationality and be ruled by your primitive instinct and red-hot emotion.

The Yahoo answer boards are infested with little teenage insects who have been completely brainwashed by their teachers and believe this eco-cr*p, which can be easily disproved through reading and applying a modicum of common sense. They are the future Himmler Eisengruppen who will try to build ovens again and send millions to their oblivion.

They have already made progress with their abortion factories. The elderly are next, followed by Christians. It’s time to move against this neo-Nazi cult.

...temperatures have increased 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit since the 1970s.

This is called selecting the data to suit the hypothesis, and it is intellectually dishonest.

“warmer than the warmest on record,”

Warmer than the warmest on record.

In 1946, Midland, Texas had its warmest year on record at 66.0 F. In 2011, that record was tied. I wonder what they thought was going on back in 1946?

In Cleveland, OH, the ten warmest years have been:

WARMEST
1. 53.5 1998
2. 53.4 1931
3. 53.0 1953
4. 53.0 1921
5. 52.8 1991
6. 52.8 1949
7. 52.7 1938
8. 52.6 2010
9. 52.6 1973
10. 52.5 1946

I wonder what they thought was going on back in 1921 and 1931 and 1938?

global temperatures have increased 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit since the 1970s

Would it have been better if the temp had gone DOWN by 1.5 degrees since then? NO.

In the billions of years that earth has had an atmosphere, the climate has continuously been warming or cooling in an endless cycle.

But now goofball liberals have decided that the absolutely correct temperature that the earth should maintain eternally was whatever temperature it was the day before the industrial revolution kicked in.

The court eunuchs of the MSM fail to notice that the hype about how bad it was going to be BY NOW have all proved wrong.

The doting court eunuchs of the MSM get their marching orders from dems who feed them tips... Tips that ‘help’ democrats - and somehow, they fail to notice that too...

These fools are obviously not scientists, and they do not base their crude political-social lusts on reality, but fantasy.

For example, there has been a dramatic, near worldwide reduction in the rate of population growth, to the point where the Earth’s human population is approaching stability. However, such stability never lasts, except to indicate the midpoint of increase or decrease.

That is, soon the world’s population may very well begin to shrink, *on its own*.

After WWII, one man, Norman Borlaug, was to a great extent responsible for the massive increase in the rate of growth of the human population, with his “Green Revolution” in agriculture. He is the equivalent of a “father of billions”, and he also prevented tremendous suffering around the world by ending most starvation, except that caused intentionally by evil local leaders.

But this also meant a gigantic baby boom. Which after this demographic bulge, population growth returned to a far more stable, if still strongly increasing, rate.

Yet this baby boom is now rapidly aging, and soon there will be a huge jump in the number of natural deaths of baby boomers, which will do much to force the population growth rate into negative territory.

That is, the Earth could lose a billion or more of its total number of people solely by attrition.

“He showed detailed graphic displays that demonstrate how global temperatures have increased 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit since the 1970s”

And as has been shown multiple times here on FR and other sites, the data used to reach this conclusion was faulty, if not outright fraudulent.

So, of course, if one uses faulty data as the baseline, any projections based on extrapolating said data will necessarily be faulty.

Unless a verifiable methodology is developed to determine the actual temperature change(s), over a significant period of time, any assertions made as to global climate change fall into the categories of guesswork and sloppy speculation.

And even if it can be shown that temperatures are rising, this doesn’t even get to the matter of what might be causing any fluctuations in temperature. That’s another ball of wax altogether.

And yet, we find ourselves in an environment of acute sensitivity to anything that might remotely enlarge our “carbon footprint”.

Amazing thing to behold.

What ya got there is climate change. It’s even worser than globalist warming.
