(WEAU) - The Eau Claire County Board passed a new ordinance allowing loaded guns to be carried in parks.
In the past guns were only allowed if there were unloaded and encased. Mike Torud with the Eau Claire County Parks and Forestry Department says people carrying a gun need to have a valid concealed carry permit to do so and cannot shoot guns in the park unless it is in self-defense.
Violators can be fined up to about $263.
Torud says signs should be up in parks in about the next two weeks.
Pretty soon, we’ll all be wearing Colts....just like when I was a kid.
