Mitt Romney's in it to win it

Mitt Romney will beat President Obama in this fall's election, most likely by a substantial margin. There. I said it. I may have a plate full of hat in my future, but I doubt it.

Pundits will give you the usual reasons for a Romney victory, but it all boils down to two things: first, Romney took the time to build an organization and second, and most important, he wants to win. Tea Party patriots and constitutional conservatives would be smart to learn a lesson from this.

While many conservatives were swooning over the latest firebrand candidate to carry their cause, Romney was already running out the clock before the game even started. Since before the 2008 election, he has been steadily building a campaign Team, networking, collecting endorsements and raising money. He knew how the system worked and used it to his advantage. The Tea Party movement has only been in existence since 2009, and then made the mistake of not coalescing behind a single candidate early enough in the race to counter Romney. We swung for the fences and struck out. Team Romney took walks, stole bases, hit singles and scored runs. The lesson that needs to be taken from this is that the Tea Party must start building their bench right now in order to have one of their own win the presidency. Although there are some admired personalities, none of them possessed what it took to beat Romney.

At this point in time Mitt has a lot more fight in him than McQueeg had. I like the way he is handling the press and not falling into their traps and the way he is taking it to Obama and not backing down.

So tired of this meme. The base voters can't win a presidential primary without a candidate. The organization is there in droves...see Wisconsin, See Dick Lugar's political carcas. See Senator Lee, Rubio and Johnson. See a big House majority. These were all built with tea party organization. This presidential primary, the tea party was there, but no candidate was able to capture it. Frankly, of the people running, we may be better off with Mitt the candidate. I don't know which one could have pulled this off...all were flawed one way or another politically.

No flame. That’s a very good analysis of political reality. Nixon did much the same thing between 1964 and ‘68 and Mitt’s father was on the losing end of that deal.

I do like the way he responded to the complaint about Obama Hecklers....in essence he said it is politics long standing and I’m not going to stand in their way if they want to heckle him.

McQueeg would have flipped like a Krystal burger....

This thread is about the election...and this incredible ad by the Roman Catholic Church underlines each of the issues at stake in these fall elections. I urge each of you to watch it and pass it on to all your non-FReeper friends...

I am optimistic that the Obamination will be booted.
Mitt was not my choice but I will back him & vote for him.
I believe that what is best for America is to remove Obama Hussein, vote in the best congressmen that we can, elect the best candidates in local & state elections, and then pursue the best strategies that we can from a position of strength.

I did not believe that McCain had a chance in H3ll.
Mitt appears to be running a far better campaign.

As time goes on, I think it will become increasingly clear, the Romney organization will be a powerful, well financed, and well organized machine.

Obama's camp is divided and appears to be disorganized. Nothing has gone right for them this whole year. In 2008 he was propelled by outside forces, and didn't have to do much of anything but show up. Now, he has to paddle his own canoe and he is revealed as a mere punk.

I continue to believe with increasing confidence that the election is Romney's to lose, and that he won't lose.

I'm inclined to agree with this piece. Romney, as the next President, is not encouraging. But I suppose I'll have to live with the fact that at least his judicial nominations are likely to be somewhat pro-American.

Also, if he can bring the demise of the old media, conservatism will have a chance to right our course in 2016, if we make it to 2016.

I’d hate to put Romney up against a real candidate. His strength is the fact that Obama is so pathetic.

At this point in time Mitt has a lot more fight in him than McQueeg had.

That's my observation too. I truly thought, after Newt and Rick Santorum flamed out, the GOP intent was for Romney to gracefully lose the election but preserve the chance to win the Senate.

Well, if that was the GOP's intent, Romney's having nothing of it. He's outpacing Obama in fundraising and, with the exception of Obama's unconstitutional circumvention of immigration law last week, has been controlling the narrative.

Romney, while I'm still not a fan, has proven to be a far more formidible opponent with a penchant for the fight than Obama and his handlers ever dreamed in their worst nightmares. I have no doubt the Obama people were convinced their boy would cruise to reelection without breaking a sweat.

Even if mittens sat as a potted plant in the WH for 4 years, that would be a massive improvement over what we have now.

Obama has to go!

Romney has wanted to be POTUS since his Dad’s bid failed in 68.

We can criticize his principles but not his fight.

There was a time when I said I would never, never vote for Romney. I guess never's not as long a time period as I thought.;-)

I believe Romney is going to trounce Obama for the reasons you mention and because Obama is an awful person and an awful candidate. I'd say he's an awful leader...but then he is in no way a leader.

Even Putin despises Obama!

In fact, Romney will beat Obama so roundly that the only votes Obama will get will be those of his people and the sympathy vote.

Still a long time to go before the election. If Obama is smart, they won’t try to depict Romney as a conservative, but will demonstrate that he is a pathological liar who agrees with Obama on every major issue. That is something easy to do, and that is probably why they wanted Romney as the GOP nominee to begin with.

No flame, just a few comments.

Obamalite is the Godfather of Obama”care,” which is the death knell for the USA. Obamalite’s only concession is that he will keep only the best parts of Obama”care.”

Obamalite in June is polling only a coin-flip ahead of the pathetic Obama.

Obamalite refuses to acknowledge that he has caused the Conservatives to sit at home on Election Day in November.

The second ballot in Tampa will get the Conservatives out to vote in November!

Obama has proven that the Democrats can easily be led to mimic the Feudal European Slave State.

Romney has proven that the RINOs will endorse anyone who promises to not rock their precious little “elect me” boat.

Step number one is to DUMP Romney at the Republican Convention.

Step number two is to choose a Nominee who will cut BASELINE Federal Spending.

Step number three is to take over control of the Republican Party.

Realistically, Romney is Obamalite, if elected he will not abolish Obama”care” or reduce Federal Spending, and will lose to Hillary of the “Hilly and Billy Show” in 2016.

Therefore, the time to DUMP Romney is in Tampa, 2012.

If we don’t do this in 2012, then we will either get Obama again, or have to complete steps 1, 2 & 3 in 2016.

Romney should zip it for a while and wait to the last possible moment to choose a vp. Obama is screwing himself and the MSM is turning a tad our way. Even Clinton to touting Romney.

I think this leak thing is really starting to hurt him. The media is really not giving obama cover in this as much as I thought they would.
