Romney Refuses to Take Media's 'Illegal' Bait
breitbart.com ^ | June 18 2012 | by John Nolte

While our presumptive nominee Mitt Romney has criticized Obama's cynical, politically-timed power grab, he has yet to say whether or not he would repeal President Obama's executive decision to no longer enforce our laws with respect to somewhere around one million Mexican illegals. Instead, first thing this morning, the Romney campaign went right back to talking about Obama's failed economy:

A number of my fellow conservatives, many of whom I admire, are hitting Romney for not taking a stand on this, but what exactly is Romney supposed to do? This entire story is, quite obviously, a coordinated trap set up by both the Obama campaign and their White House Media Palace Guards to change the subject and gum Romney up in divisive identity politics for the next ten days.

Within seconds of Obama's unilateral move (remember when the media hated those?), many of the Media Palace Guards I follow on Twitter were tweeting things like "game changer," because after having no choice but to report on Obama's very bad two weeks, they were all in agony and desperate to change the subject -- desperate for a "game changer."

So are you saying he should not say it is unfair for illegals to step in front of those who have applied legally for citizenship and still waiting?

He should not tell obama he is making it harder for legal US citizens to get a job as now they will have to compete with illegals for precious jobs?

How about it's the president's job to follow the laws of the land or that the president should worry about securing the borders and not his reelection.

Romney is a politician and not a statesman.

“You never fight on the enemy’s turf. Never. Even if it means turning tail and running. Ask those “cowards” George Washington and Sam Houston about that.”

Trenton, NJ was the “enemy’s turf. San Jacinto—all of Tejas, for that matter.
`Island hopping’ in the Pacific, WWII, and France, then Germany itself.
“Never fight on the enemy’s turf.”? “Turn tail and run.”

What’s this guy been smoking?

Remember all that lip flapping around here about pushing him to the right?

That becomes much more important after Romney wins.

Winning the White House away from Obama is the critical first step of any plan for turning our country back toward the Constitution.

Actually, Romney has the makings of a great commercial without having to touch on the "illegals" part of this. He can simply make the case that we already have United States citizens that need jobs, so why is the president (sorry, can't capitalize it for this schmuck) simply making it harder for ALL to find jobs? Pretty hard to argue with that, even if you're a Dem.

The scales have really fallen from my eyes. How about you?

Here we thought it was just Mittens doing that RINO voodoo that he does so well and all along—he’s been masterminding the matter! Finessing it like Yo Yo Ma (Yo Ma Ma?) playing his bull fiddle!

Wow, do I feel silly ..... like every other patriot on this board I thought Gromit could or would at least give a conservative response, and throw us mouth-breathers a bone, and then get back to the main course—the economy—but that sly boots gave Zero a swift kick in the caboose with DAN: by Doing Absolutely Nothing.

Good old Dan Romney! I’m finally a true believer. Before my epiphany just now, well, it must have been because I really wanted Obama to win because by not voting for DAN—that’s a vote for Obama. It must be true because I’ve heard it here so many times.

If Romney starts saying “I am about the opposite of 0bamma, I am for Change and Hope”, then we are screwed.

Exactly.

Part of the story. It headed off a Romney-Rubio amnesty ploy that was meant lure some Hispanics to Romney this weekend. Now Rub says his ‘reform’ must wait till after the election.

You see Romney used ‘self-deportation’ as a club to beat over the head of Perry and Newt playing the tough on illegals act, now having won the nomination he can't say if he opposes what Obama just did. He is worried about Hispanic voters now.

Lesson 1 : You can't out-lib the Democrats. They will always one-up you. Try a different strategy.

So you speak for every patriot on this board? Your so called brand of "Conservative" sounds an offal lot like liberalism to me.

He was asked if he would reverse Obama’s “Executive Order”.
No laws or congress involved whatsoever.

It’s a legit question. It may prove to be a good strategy to ignore it now and focus on the economy but at some point in the future he will need to answer it.

The Romney campaign needs to keep this up. The key is to force Obama & his minions to play OUR game. Don’t let them set the agenda

Exactly. I suspect we won’t like Romney’s answer, but this is smart politics. Obama is trying to play the division game along racial lines... purely a political calculation. Republicans don’t win these arguments with the media so why even respond. If Romney remains quiet and a majority don’t like Obama’s answer it will backfire on the Great Divider. Get specific on marginal issues that are hot buttons and Romney loses. I am guessing the MSM will try to make the debates about transgender midgets, illegal honor students, gay adoption, and the usual list of grievances.

Romney’s answer to these questions should be something along the lines of “why are we worrying about people that represent a thousandth of one percent when 20% of Americans can’t find a job. I purposely use the 20% because it is true. The current unemployment numbers are crap and are probably higher than that. Nobody knows because they have cooked the books and changed how it is measured.

Keep hammering the economy and Obama’s record. Keep using Obama’s own words against him. Keep talking about how Obama’s policies are hurting jobs and businesses. Keep talking about how the government debt is hurting our economy and penalizing our children. Keep hammering the importance of this next term for SCOTUS. Keep hammering an American energy revolution based on the free market clearing the way for jobs and cheaper energy. Obama has nothing so don’t play his politically correct BS. The choice is clear.... food stamps and government bureaucrats or a free market economy with jobs and freedom!

You nailed it. Romney needs to stay out of the weeds for the win.

Mitt Romney he has yet to say whether he would repeal Obama's decision to no longer enforce our laws with respect to somewhere around one million Mexican illegals.

He will *never* get my vote unless he steps up to the podium and clearly states he will repeal it, and in fact will secure our lawless violent borders, aggressively prosecute employers who knowingly hire them, aggressively pursue deportation of illegals and pursue these policies every day of his administration, or resign and not seek a second term.

He says this, he gets my vote.

Not buying the Bush bullchet ever again.

If Romney has any brains, he should pound Oblamo mercilessly on the no. 1 issue by polling.....ECONOMY.

He should ignore all side issues such as immigration, Obamacare etc.

Note, Romney or any one must WIN FIRST to effect any changes on issues such as illegal immigration.

Just ask O’Donnell, Angle, McCain/Palin how much power they have having lost the election..
