I think you’re giving government workers too much credit. There are usually a few competent workers is each office but from my experience the vast majority of government workers are incompetent. They could never find a job in the private sector because their skills are lacking.
I don’t mean just the agencies we all deal with either. A friend of mine worked as an attorney for the Denver City Attorneys office a number of years ago. He was new to Denver and didn’t want to start a private practice again. It seemed that many of the attorneys in that office were there because they could not do as well in private practice and more than a few were really strange and weird.
I did some volunteer work in our election office a few years ago. Of the thirty to forty full time workers there only a dozen really did the majority of the work and ran things. The rest seemed to be on coffee breaks or going around the office to visit with others there.
My wife used to work for the state Oil & Gas Commission. Of the twelve people in her office, three really knew what they were doing or experienced in Oil & Gas.
Heck, just think of the times we need to renew our drivers license. How many people there knew what they were doing? Less than half has been my observation.
I would bet there isn’t one state or federal agency that could not reduce staff by 20-30% and not miss a beat in their efficiency.

Well, it’s a fluffy morning. Wonder what he’s been sent out into the world to say?
The only one I didn’t set to tape was the show Mitt Romney is on and that’s the only one I’m interested in.
It occurred to me in the last couple of days after Obama decided to bypass congress with his work permit law that we haven’t heard a lot about border issues lately.
During the primary, the candidates were trying to outborder each other. I remember Perry had a plan to secure the border within one year, but I haven’t heard a thing about securing the border lately.
All these ideas about what to do about our current illegal population don’t amount to much if we keep letting them flood in.
I will definitely set it to tape and report after church.
Interested to see what Romney has to say about Obama’s pflouting of the law with his work amnesty bill.
Taxing them would be good. But firing them and eliminating the mountains of worthless or destructive programs would be better and healthier for budgets, both present and future. That way we save money on ongoing useless or destructive programs and don't need to pay retirement benefits to our union slug tormentors.
Unfortunately for them, a lot of them would have a hard time finding work in the private sector. Slugs don't do very well unless they land another union gig, and the commies aren't appreciated (and there aren't enough jobs in academe). But in that case, their jobs are usually gone in a little while anyhow when the companies go out of business.

Anyhoo, beautiful weather weekend here in the swamps. Daughter here since Thursday night. Folks, you will be just so proud.
Big overhaul of my bedroom this past week. Got a new 50 inch TV which I gave to husband for his man-cave and I took his 32 inch HDTV. Painted room light pink with a dark pink wall. Hung all my paintings on the accent wall, God Bless.
Cleaned entire room, made new dog hidey-hole, painted, cleaned, re-organized. Got new lazyboy type of chair only it’s a couch, also in bedroom. Moved furniture, humped, heaved, bent over.
Ladies and gems, the room is a work of art. A veritable work of art, a room that HGTV would envy. Daughter and I are so proud. We painted the insets on the doors, we decorated, we hung accessories, I fixed up my computer area, we got rid of wires, we washed windows and wiped ceiling fans, we taped the ceilings, we painted the woodwork bright work.
Tis a work of art. Maybe I’ll upload a finished pic.
You ladies especially would be very jealous.
I type now daughter sleeps but I’m about to get her up.
For now, I’m watching, I’m listening and I’m reading.

Ploufe is not a convincing liar. Wallace got Ploufe to say that Obama did not reclassify any security information. After trying to filibuster the question, Ploufe said that Obama didn’t reclassify any security information. Judging from Ploufe’s actions he was obviously lying.
Of course Ploufe is lying. They have no clue what the truth is about anything. All they know is deception.
I know, it is like expecting Penguins to fly like hummingbirds. Did you hear Puffle say fair and balanced recovery on Fox. Chris started laughing they were using their moniker.

That equates to an average of 38,461 jobs per WEEK.
As of Thursday, the weekly NEW joblessness claims were back up to 380,000.
Team Obama keep saying they created over 4 million jobs. However, that equates to about 1 new job for every 10 jobs lost per WEEK.
That 4 million sounds impressive, until the numbers are broken down. Then 4 million is only about 10% of the number of jobs that needs to be created.
One thing people love about government jobs is that it’s really hard to get fired.
But Romney said once that he liked to fire people... maybe he could start there.
Statistics are a snare and a delusion most of the time as they are usually trotted out to prove somebody’s point about something and are often manipulated.
Statistics from the Obama administration can be immediately dismissed as they don’t even bother with manipulation; they just move straight on to lying.
I guess some people just believe any statistic they toss out and that’s the audience they are playing to.
Lieberman and Bullethead are unwatchable TV.

This is the first time I am not in full agreement with your post. With all due respect, let us not paint the reduction in govt workers with a total vast brush.There are “govt workers” and then there are “govt workers”.
I agree that the vast number of “beaurocratic” govt workers at federal, state levels need to be weeded out,their pensions cut and excess “departments” eliminated (EPA, TSA,EDUC, etc).
However, there are many government workers who work at the ground level and work very hard and do not have luxurious pensions. They contribute to their retirement and the matching amount is a very small percentage of their contributions. They do not receive salaries that are outrageosuly out of line compared to the private sector.
The example I would use is the front line VA workers (nurses,therapists, etc.).
NOT the mid and top VA management, but the actual govt workers who provide services to our veterans and who are overworked due to staff shortages at that level. We need MORE of these workers, while cutting the beaurocrats.
You are right, the quality workers would leave and find work in the private hospitals forcing VA to look at different solutions. The real solution is to turn them into private hospitals that would become charity type hospitals like the Wounded Warrior hospitals.

Wounded Warriors has MASSIVE amounts of money for a very, very small number of veterans.
The only good thing about the Va, there is a certain accountability if there are problems..in a very public way...AND the interfacing of all providers instantly is far better than in the private sector.
The private sector has lots of its own problems. I have no problem with the Veterans services being run by govt IF they are monitored from outside. All govt per se is not bad, its when it becomes so over arching and programs that are not needed at the Fed level occurr.

During the Reagan years all illegal immigrants were granted amnesty. All of America was in favor of it, the cheers filled the land. “No problem,” Americans said. “THIS time we let them stay and from now on we protect our borders and have a SYSTEM to let them in that bows to common sense”.
WRONG.
The politicos in all those years did NOTHING to fix the system. Instead they worked on their re-election and in the case of McCain, he devoted endless hours on campaign finance reform that we all can sleep soundly at night for that issue that once caused us so much concern.
And now when we complain they call us names. Altura, so sorry and I will not fight with you, but this includes Rick Perry.
For we are mean for wanting a system set up, we are mean for suggesting that those who came here illegally not have their children granted in-state status for school or even for giving them citizenship. I know they were kids, innocents.
But if we start a procedure that allows folks to come here illegal so the children they bring with them can become legal, boom....ratatatata....well no, that’s not quite the immigration “system” we had in mind.
The problem with immigration falls right in the laps of the politicians and they need to stop this stupid tactic of calling us mean for daring to want a sensible, sane and fair system to administer to those who come to our country. We have fences out here in la-la land and we most often lock our doors. We understand the concept of who is welcome and who should get an invite.
Come up with a system and do it like you mean it. Nothing less will make us happy.

Good Lord, it is nauseating. the conservatives never get to say anything while the commercial runs. any critique of the Bozo is instantly reframed. Yeesh. Lots of “ha, ha, light joking.” guess that’s how we avoid taking a look at the Jerk.
Golly, gee. Chris Wallace really took fluffy to the woodshed. He was way tougher on him than Chris usually is on democrats.
Fluffy is a poor spokesman for the Prez, although he had nothing to work with. He used the word, ‘listen’ at least 3 or 4 times, as in, “Listen, Chris....”
Fluff was also quite the advocate for Romney. Wallace stated he wasn’t going to bring Romney up because he didn’t want to focus on the presidential race but more on two things: the leaks and the amnesty edict.
Fluffy kept saying over and over that Congress needed to pass the dream act and that Romney has said he would veto it. Listen up, everyone. If you don’t want the dream act, it’s pretty clear who your candidate should be.
