Watch out, moviegoers -- Nanny York City is taking aim at yet another of life's gluttonous pleasures.

On the heels of Mayor Michael Bloomberg's call for a ban on jumbo-sized sodas and other sugary drinks, city officials are now considering restrictions on treats ranging from popcorn to milkshakes.

At a meeting Tuesday, members of the New York City Board of Health expressed support for Bloomberg's proposal. They then started brainstorming other ways to cut the fat, according to MyFoxNY.com.

Member Bruce Vladeck proposed limiting movie-theater popcorn containers.

"The popcorn isn't a whole lot better than the soda," he said.

Another member suggested limits for milkshakes and "milk-coffee beverages."

Look for NYers to travel to next door CT and NJ for their snacks and soda.

I’d like to see 3-5 million move out of NYC/NYState and the damned place collapse, financially. Turn it into that “Escape New York” movie from the 80s:

Stuff like this will make the “red states” look more attractive for common sense folks.

Hell, just set a bounty.

45 cents a pound for anything over 300.

Problem solved.

This is all heading towards "the real plan"....

that special tax which will induce us to stop buying the stuff....the exact plan for the cigarette tax.

It's about money....not health....like we didn't know.

Why is the govenment telling me what to eat...what to drink....and how much. It's insane.

America helped and comforted NY City after 9/11. Most people that I know say, “Never again”.

"There are people who strictly deprive themselves of each and every eatable, drinkable and smokeable which has in any way acquired a shady reputation. They pay this price for health. And health is all they get out of it. How strange it is. It is like paying out your whole fortune for a cow that has gone dry."

Put up the 30-foot walls and let “A Number 1” take charge.

Stick a fork in NYC.

We got rid of Prohibition and I would like to see the "why" of the "Constitional Amendment".

It's likely how we arrived at taxing the cra* out of cigarettes instead of calling them illegal.

It's time the people stood up and told government to get out of their private lives....

Yet more confirmation of my opinion that the primary function of government at all levels these days is to suck all the joy out of life.

Popcorn is whole grain, and vegetarian (not necessarily vegan); a dog from Nathan’s, well, that’s just a crime against humanity.

BTW, Bloomberg’s an a$$hole!

Thanks carriage_hill.

Do they have plans for installing videocameras in homes to make sure nobody eats popcorn or drinks a milkshake? They’d better. It’s possible that somebody might smoke a cigarette—or worse!

The popping oil is another big problem. They’re banning the coconut oil,...

Coconut oil is a good oil. If this is true, they're basing their government overreach on bad research. Just another reason the food Nazis should stay out of it.

I think they just need to nationalize restaraunts and let Nanny Bloomberg set the menu for each one. That will solve all problems.
