I have a similar trap but I don't dare use it. The last time I did I caught a skunk. It took me a while to get him out but I did so w/o getting sprayed. I guess I could have dispatched him first but I didn't want to do that.
I LOVE squirrel. Avec mirepoix, a la meuniere, with a roux gravy and the biscuits, let simmer for a half hour. Greens on the side.

Ok so this is news, or a crime? It ain’t cruelty to hang a squirrel on a fence after them squirrels be dead. They be dead!
I tracked the number of squirrels I killed over 4 years. 500+. I didn’t eat every one, but every one was eaten. I can’t eat them anymore. I made squirrel pot pie, squirrel jerky, squirrel bbq, and squirrel everything else. Enough.
I’ve no problem with shooting squirrels; but hanging them from a fence, in a residential area isn’t right.

I’ve killed thousands of ground squirrels. Thousands.
In the last 15 years, I’d reckon somewhere between 3 and 4K is a firm estimate right now... shot, poisoned, gassed, blown up, trapped... you name it, I’ve done it.
Rats with furry tails. Son and husband killed many back in SC. They would destroy the pecans. Every single one off a 30’+ tree.
I grew up with a pecan orchard in my back yard. Squirrels were aplenty. Between my brothers and me we took thousands (I have 5 bros). We ate every one and often squirrel meat was the only meat on the table.
