Team Obama Denies Veterans Access to Vietnam Memorial

Vets denied access to Vietnam Memorial

Due to high security surrounding President Obama’s visit to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Memorial Day, many veterans were turned away, unable to mourn their fellow soldiers at The Wall.

Retired Army Lieutenant General John Sylvester was one of the vets turned away, and he spoke out about the rebuff on Fox and Friends. Sylvester said that he didn’t take offense on his own behalf, but on behalf of all those who died in the war. He said, “It’s about those 58,000 plus soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines that are represented on that wall. That wall is America’s wall. It is not the presidents wall.”

The organization of which Sylvester is a part, the 11th Armored Cavalry Association, gathers on both Memorial Day and Veterans Day to place a wreath on the wall and to “be able to stand there reflectively, to be able to reach up and touch names of real-life humans, people that we knew, and it is our day as veterans to go and honor those men who are represented on that wall.”

Obama should have arrived early to allow Americans access to the wall for the rest of the day.

should have arrived at 8am and left.

Then Vets, families, friends and Americans would have access to the area for the rest of the day.

“That wall is America’s wall. It is not the presidents wall.”

That’s where you’re mistaken. Don’t you know the White House is his house, not the peoples house? / sarc

A more thoughtful president would not have gone to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Memorial Day on such a day knowing it would have to be shut down for him...especially Obama, the most costly and protected CinC in history.

This happens just to protect an SOB who isn’t fit or qualified to lick the red dust and mud off the boots of the men and women who served there.

obama is a POS- he did not go to the Vietnam Memorial to commemorate the 58,000+ who sacrificed their lives- he went there for PR during an election year...

didn’t GWB make a private visit to the Vietnam Wall in the pouring rain prior to the Iraq war??

Let’s hope the Romney camp is taking notes for the debates on this down the road.

The light probably wasn't perfect at 8 a.m. for the photo that he wanted (of his image being reflected from the stone).

Obama believes that the people in the military today fight "on his behalf." He probably thinks the persons whose names are on the wall died on behalf of Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon.

Of course they had to close the Vietnam Memorial all day...

Do you know how long it takes to set up a shot like this, complete with the halo? You have to wait until the light is just right...

Well, these guys have gotten pretty good with Photoshop so why couldn’t they superimpose Barry at the wall and on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial?
