Jeb Bush Says Mitt Romney Should Pick Marco Rubio
ABC News ^ | June 8, 2012 | Shushannah Walshe

Posted on 06/11/2012 3:55:26 AM PDT by pistolpackinpapa

Jeb Bush gave an impassioned endorsement of fellow Floridian Marco Rubio, advising Mitt Romney to pick him as his running mate and describing him as “the most articulate conservative elected official on the scene today,” and even spoke of the “great pride” he has for the U.S. senator from his home state.

“Marco Rubio is my favorite [choice], because we have a close relationship,” the former Florida governor told Charlie Rose in an interview that aired on his PBS show Thursday evening. “I admire him greatly … He speaks with great passion about American exceptionalism. I think he would lift the spirits of the campaign and provide some energy. Governor Romney is running a very good campaign right now and closed the gap and leading in some polls, but I think this would be an added bonus.”

In the wide ranging hour long interview that aired in parts Thursday morning on CBS’ “This Morning” and then in its entirety Thursday evening on PBS, Bush said Rubio has had enough preparation to be “one heartbeat away from the presidency” despite being a first term senator.

“Look he has more experience than Barack Obama had when he ran,” Bush said. “And the practical experience — he’s certainly got the intelligent acumen and fortitude to be a good president and I have a special place in my heart for him. It’s hard to describe the pride I have for his incredible success and how he has moved in to the job of being a U.S. senator with humility, not trying to be an arrogant guy, to learn the trade if you will. And people in Washington really admire him.”

At two years into his first Senate term, why is Rubio more qualified than Obama?

I like Marco Rubio. He would bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the campaign.

What’s not to like?

He’s good looking, articulate, conservative.

I’m not saying he’d bring in the hispanic vote because I don’t know or believe in stuff like that, although he might bring in the Gal vote.

As far as the eligibility issue goes, Obama and crew would not dare go there considering Obama’s vulnerability on the same issue.

I NEVER heard of such a thing about Rubio’s finances and I think I would have since he’s such a popular guy.

Prove it or shut up.

Throwing out lies and hoping they stick is a democrat tactic. Do we really want to adopt it here?

The "Rubio is not qualified because he is not a Natural Born Citizen" folks, here on FR, need to get that word to Jeb Bush because apparently, he doesn't know it. Come to think of it, Marco Rubio must not know it either or he would remove his name from consideration. Come on anti-Rubio FReepers; do your job. Let Jeb and Marco know that Marco isn't qualified. (Is this where I insert the "sarcasm" emblem? [/sarc] )

***************************

Don't bother. Rubio is soft on illegal immigration. He has disqualified himself.

The establishment pick Rubio commits mortal sin by claiming to be a Catholic, but also going to a protestant church. Looks to me like a politician trying to have it both ways. So let’s call him what he is. He’s a CINO. Catholic in Name Only.

Bite me. Google is your friend. I am a native Floridian. His flaws are common knowledge. Get a grip on yourself.

Rubio is probably not more qualified than Obama experience wise.

He is a lot better person.

I’m for Paul Ryan. He’s an expert on the economy which is one of our main concerns and there is no controversy over him.

However, I’ve heard ... although I do not have a ‘link’ that he once spoke to one of the Bushes, so I dunno.

Just so you know, Google is not my friend.

Nor is Google the friend of any conservative.

You have to scroll through 500 posts to find the truth about anything and get past the liberal lies/take on things.

All anyone has to do is google “Rubio financial problems”. It’s shockingly simple.

“I’m sure Willard’s got a “working short list” nearly finalized, and that whomever he chooses is going to be castigated by all, for one reason or another.”

I’m looking forward to it. Can’t wait for him to name someone. The show here will be worth at least two cents.

I’ve been able to add to my list today. I told a Romney hater the other day that there are probably only 30 fanatical Romney haters here but it seems like more because they are so persistent.

I’m now up to 26 on my list.

Go Romney haters, you can do it, get me up to 30.

Do I need to post the property appraisers site. You are being silly and childish. Educate yourself on this guy. He’s not ready or mature enough to take a national public office. Please take a breath and find a good candidate. Rubio is not there. Like I said, he can’t balance a checkbook, much less a federal deficit. Check yourself fool...

Silly and childish?

Did I say ‘bite me?’

Did I call you fool.

I never even said I’m for Rubio, I’m for Ryan.

But Rubio is a very attractive guy. You only posted dubious links which I do not intend to pursue.

Why can’t you just write out the bad things you think you know about Rubio?

By the way, a lot of people in this country are in bad financial straits and many decent people have been forclosed on because of the current president. I’m sure they would appreciate your disdain for them.
