GOP mood toward Romney's fall prospects brighten

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) — Republicans riding high from a string of breaks in their favor are increasingly optimistic about Mitt Romney's chances to claim the White House in November, even among conservatives who had qualms about making him the party's nominee.

The bullish take is reflected in interviews with party strategists and activists, including people who supported Romney rivals during the primary season. Mood matters because it can fuel fundraising and volunteer hustle. But some of those GOP players stress that Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, has little room for error if he expects to topple an incumbent president.

The chest-thumping follows a GOP victory in last week's Wisconsin recall election that saved Gov. Scott Walker's job. The race galvanized Republicans who saw it as an early 2012 referendum on conservative fiscal principles in an election that was likely to hinge on the shape of the economy.

Even Rick Santorum, who spent a primary season casting doubt on Romney's ability to succeed in a general election, says things are looking up for Romney. "I can tell you, I feel a little bit better about that election since what happened on Tuesday up in Wisconsin," Santorum said Friday at a Conservative Political Action Conference in Chicago.

"Let's be honest about it, at the presidential level, the Democrats took the Republicans out behind the woodshed a little bit in 2008. By the sheer number of electoral votes Barack Obama won last time, clearly we have our work cut out for us," said Gregg Keller, executive director of the American Conservative Union. "It's a tough map for us and no one should think this is going to be a walk in the park. It's going to be a tough race. But Republicans and conservatives believe this is an eminently winnable race."

Romney doesn’t win one for the Gipper. He wins one for the GOPe. I don’t know what drugs you guys are taking, but Romney’s victory has nothing whatever to do with any of you or our movement.

What is stunning about Mitts rise is that he isn’t even promoting himself. He’s just like an Amorphous entity waiting in the wings.

ABO indeed

What we all wish for is a solid down vote to hold his feet to the fire.

BTW we must quit this fighting and elect him.
If Obama wins he will stack the Supreme court so high against us we will be screwed for decades.

The best candidate running is essentially a white version of Obama. Sounds like a lose lose situation to me.

I sent a lot of money... early in the primary to Mr. Cain. So I am disappointed that his candidacy ran aground. But Gov. Romney is certainly not a “white version of Obama”! The biggest difference is that Obama is an America hater who has spent his term undermining everything that this country stands for.

Gov. Romney played his cards right and he came out on top. I am surprised that a true conservative couldn't have beat him, but we watched one after another self destruct. I would like to blame the media, but for the most part they did it to themselves. This is more true of Mr. Cain than some of the others. At best he was reckless, and dashed the hopes of a lot of us.

If Obama gets another term... he will most certainly get the chance to completely alter the balance on the Supreme Court. He will also be able to screw the country in so many other ways. I fear that civil unrest or worse are likely outcomes. People who make light of this have no idea how bad things could get.

Except that Romney is generally in support with every popular lefty program being pushed today. If Obama hates America, what is Romney’s excuse? Stupidity?

Exactly, we can’t let that happen.

The problem is you helping to move the ball down the field to score an own goal in your own in-zone to help the bad guys. Romney's ancestors were lifetime members of the board of directors of the Rockefeller Trust and thereby very early members of the New World Order conspiracy. Romney’s Bain Capital were contributors and supporters of the Obama campaign in 2008, and they supported radical Democrat candidates in previous elections. Romney has supported numerous planks in the most radical parts of the Democrat political platforms. Democrats, living and dead whether or not they were legal voters, voted as Republicans in the Republican primaries to make Romney the Republican candidate, with the assistance of RINOs. In the State of Washington, the Democrats in the state legislature eliminated the primary election as a supposed budgetary measure, while actually using the lack of the primary as a means of using the flawed caucus procedures to elect Romney with Democrats pretending to vote as Republicans.

Even if Romney were to win the General Election, conservatives and the Republican political platform are defeated by an inauguration of Romney and the failure to void the illegal acts of the illegal Obama Administration. Congratulations, you are cheer leading the ongoing destruction of the Republican Party, the Republic, and Constitutional rule of law.

Cain was a member of the San francisco Federal Reserve, which is a position beholding to the New World Order crowd. Their strategy was to restrict the viable candidates for POTUS in the Republican and Democrat Parties to only those persons who are members of their group and beholding to their causes. So, no matter which of these candidates the Public may turn to as their champion, the candidate will always be someone owing loyalty to their New World Order agenda. Like the 2008 Election, the 2012 Election is a rigged sham election. To avoid this trap in the future and spend your money on a good cause for a change, you’ll have to do a better job of vetting the candidate you support.

Paul and his merry-band, are more akin to the Robinhood story, yet while being the good guys in the Conservative Movement they forgot to satisfy the Republican positions on social issues. From the RP meetings and emails I am familiar, I find RP supporters keen on the upshur of the delegate process (smart power if it exists in any context), and aline themselves only to conservative Tea Party type individuals. The mere fact that Ron Paul’s supporters are kindered brethern of the liberal social (not socialist) democrats on issuse of DOMA, gay rights, the military and its employment, foreign policy isolationism, and fail the God Loving Republican stances they are a better fit to fix the Democrat Party fiscally and socially.

It may be true... most of the Conservatives that I know have left the gop... or more to the point... the gop/e have left us. That would leave only the misguided and the progressive republicons.

If we had a decent candidate to vote for... there would be no question of an obamao defeat... and as things stand now... mitt will have an uphill battle all the way. It didn't have to be this way... but the gop leadership is just that progressive and dumb.

Such an event is exceedingly unlikely given history.

And people like you with nothing but negatives, and willing to sit on the sidelines, it will be that much harder.

When the working conservatives win, and we help mittens get elected, the purists will crawl out and bask in the victory.

Understand, he was not our first or second or third choice, but it is either Mitt Romney or baraka hussein obama, and I've seen enough of the communist, halfrican, mooselimb prick.

If you live in a very red or very blue state, it doesn't matter if vote third party, but if you live in a toss up state, and vote third party, be willing to take responsibility for your actions.

Jim Rob is from kalifornication, his Presidential vote will not make a bit of difference, so all of the railing against mittens on FR doesn't mean squat with the significance of his actual vote.

Romney CREATED ObamaCARE/RomneyCARE and has

The GOPe is responsible for stealing this election
from conservatives through media manipulation and
cheating at the polls.

Lower taxes, repeal of obamacare, drilling and mining of the natural resources, less regulation, lefty indeed?

If we had a decent candidate to vote for.

You'd still piss and moan because your candidate wasn't picked.

Perpetual bitcher and moaner, like most spoiled children, take your ball and end the game.

Before you can correct lib lies, you need to know the truth, and you aren't objective.

You can say that Mitt Romney is a rino squish, but you cannot claim that he is not decent.

There are bitter clingers all over the place now who just can’t let go of their unbridled contempt for a good and decent man who will be an infinitely better President than Obama. They just can’t wrap their closed minds around the fact that the primaries are over and their guy lost. They refuse to accept the reality that we don’t need conservatives to criticize the only candidate who has a snowball’s chance in hell of beating Obama. There are more than enough Democrats doing that already; they don’t need any help from our side. They would rather wallow in their misguided self righteousness and put what passes for principle in their twisted little souls ahead of what is best for this Nation.

That’s true. Santorum won conservative states. Gingrich lead the polls twice. Cain had the lead for two months. But no it had to be Rino Romney. The GOPe stole the election.
